Not sure about the first session but i was able to see the middle of the 2nd seesion. The teams were really good. They seemed to be really good. Not many falls. Also a little surprised about the lack of level 3 teams. Only 1 Jr. Peewee 3 and 2 Midget 3

I think from what I am seeing because of the larger amounts of teams going L2, some are trying to go L3. But the skills are not there. Does anyone know who placed in CT yesterday for jpw up to midgets? Just curious I know it was a big competition yesterday.

I'm impatiently waiting for the results of that Conn comp!! I'm interested to see what teams stood out. I need to know about their D teams!!!! Anyone have any info to share?! :)

And yes I agree. Too many teams attempting to go L3 before they are ready (not directing this toward any specific team, just a generalization.)

From what I saw, The jr. peewees were pretty good. Out of the parts of the session I saw, there were hardly any bobbles. It was a nail-biter.

I don't remember West Haven from last year. Seems like they are one of the teams to watch this year. Both their B and D teams took first in their division. Interesting... How about A and C teams?

Everyone has a complaint about these levels. Either teams are declaring low to take it all, or they are declaring high to take it all. You just can't win. Someone always has something negative to say! No one really knows what other teams are declaring in August. Coaches declare based on what skills they think their girls can handle. Don't you think it makes more sense to go Level 3 and work hard to do it, rather than go Level 2 and slaughter the other teams?

Love Cheer. Billerica had a rough day but will be back on top in Lowell. Chelmsford was ok.

If they had had a better day, would those 2 teams have been comparable?

A team should not move into a higher level when they are lacking the basics such as clean motions and jumps. Just because you have the ability to tumble and stunt does not necessarily make you a level 3 team. I commend teams who aim high, but if you don't have basic skills you don't need to be in a higher level. And as I said previously, I am talking about no specific team, just stating my opinion.

Silly me. I thought the levels were determined by stunt and tumbling capability.

Yea has nothing to do with the overall execution of the routine....
What I'm trying to say is the basic skills should be there before advancing into more difficult tumbling passes and stunt sequences or else it just looks sloppy.

I agree it looks sloppy but that stuff comes with practice. Those basics are not what determine the level. If they don't have tight motions, solid jumps or good execution it doesn't matter WHAT level they are.

I've just seen people on this forum complain that teams go P4 just so they do not have competition and it's an easy ride. Or teams go P1 just because it's easy and therefore an easy ride. Face it, none of it is an easy ride. These kids practice hard whether 1 or 4. Let's not criticize decisions that are made by coaches who know best what THEIR team is capable of. I really don't think they would push a team into a level they would not be safe doing just because there MIGHT be less completion in that level. Shame on them if they do.

As a parent, Coach and Coordinator, I really think people need to watch what they say. When we declare our teams it is not to advance all the way, it is the second week of practice and we size up the ability of what we have. Some teams that move up a level do so to challenge the girls so they gain skills or maybe maxed out their category the year before. Everyone keeps talking about tumbling but really it is 5 points. I have seen teams with tumblers have sloppy routines and shaky stunts and teams with only a few tumblers have solid stunts and clean skills. No one is given a chart in August on who is in what category. You go with your gut of where you think your team belongs and nothing else.

Love Cheer. If Billerica had not had as rough day then they would have been better than Chelmsford in my opinion. Chelmsford's timing was off and they were not clean. We were clean but dropped alot of our stunts. Were in New York are you from?

5678Boom I do agree with that. I was in no way complaining about what level coaches declare for their teams. They know best and know the capability of their girls. As a coach myself, I make the best decision for my team based on what they are able to do by the end of August. I am just a stickler for tight motions and overall execution of a routine, and I couldn't imagine trying to excel in a higher level when those basics aren't perfected Like I said, I commend teams who aim high and the level 3 and 4 teams I have seen thus far look great!

@cheerluv2 - I don't think anyone in this forum has suggested any team has chosen their level to compete at just to ensure they have a "free ride" to Florida. No one has even mentioned any team specifically. I know coaches know their team best, and it would be a shame for them to put them at a level they don't belong just for the sake of winning.

Here is an idea - if a team declares level 3 and wins the National Title in Disney and more than 80% of the team returns the following season - they should be required to go level 4.

Just a thought.

But what happens a level 3 wins Nationals but does not have the skills for level 4 the following year?
