4 Guys Combine in Season Opening Shutout
In a tune-up for league play, Greece comes out and gets a 4-0 win over the Rochester Black Sox.
Ryan Ballard was hit by a pitch to lead off the 2nd inning and scored on an error.
Victor Torres led off the 4th with a walk and scored on a hard ground ball by Ballard. Thomas Finnerty hit a laser to right center to score Ballard and Isaac Yorkey to get the rest of the runs in.
Greece used great defense (including 2 double plays) and good pitching to shut out the Sox.
Connor Hong got the start and went two innings allowing one hit and striking out 4. Jake Wamser went the next two innings also allowing one hit and getting 2 strikeouts himself. Jared Pignato threw 2 innings not allowing a hit and a strikeout. Mike Ruta closed out the shutout in the 7th.
Yorkey led the offense going 3 for 3. Jamison Lynd was 1 for 1 with a walk to help lead he Generals (1-0)
