What a Finish
The Ladies of Jones and Warren hosted the Amato's Majors tonight looking to avenge an earlier season loss to the Green and Gold. The Amato Girlz didn't quite see that in mind as the opened up in the first two innings scoring 9 runs. 6 Girlz had hits tonight, Jamie Dillon collecting her first Majors hit, scored one and played a deciding role at the end of the game. Megan Murrell had a big night, going 3 for 3 and looked like she had been shopping at the GAP with a double and a triple scoring twice and collecting 4 RBI's on the night.
Mary Farnkoff got the start for the Green and Gold pitching 3 innings only allowing 4 earned runs. The Red and Black tacked on 3 unearned runs on a few errors by the Amato's team. Farnkoff had another good day on the mound and laid down another picture perfect bunt that she legged into a hit advancing two base runners.
Sophia Burnham came in relief for Jones and Warren and had her A game going, shutting down the Amato's Girlz down only allowing 2 earned runs on 1 hit and 3 walks while collecting 8 Strike outs in 3 innings pitched. Jones and Warren Ladies hung in there and chipped away at the lead bringing the game to 11 to 10 into the bottom of the 6th and final inning.
Haley Lawsure lead off for the Red & Black reaching base as a throw to Dillon playing first pulled her away from the bag. After a ground out to first advancing the tying run to second base. Sarah Linehan stepped into the box. Zoning in on the first pitch, she laced a line drive that Dillon caught and doubling up the runner on second base for the third and final out of the game.
Other game notes: Dominique Caron collected her team leading 5th HBP, Tori Hale and Chandra LaBonte collected a pair of stolen bases each. Julia Walker collected a hit and a big fly ball out ending a J&W threat. Chelsea Hughes and Hale each had a fly ball out helping the defensive cause. Dani Plummer was on the DL for tonight's game and hope for a speedy recovery from a muscle pull.
