Radnor Shocks Strath Haven with 2nd Comeback, Walks OFF 8-7
Radnor rallied in the bottom of the 7th inning to stun Strath Haven with a walk-off 8-7 victory at home. Audrey Rosenblum singled with two strikes and two outs off of the left fielder's glove to drive home freshman Amanda McGrath with the game winning run. Earlier, Amanda had singled with one out to drive home Sophia Royle, and Sydney D'Entremont scored from first on the same hit after the ball got by the left fielder.
Radnor answered Strath Haven's own 7th inning rally, as the visitors almost ruined the day by scoring 4 runs to retake the lead at 7-5. However, Sophia led off the bottom of the last inning with a double to jump start the Raiders, and Grace Remphrey followed with a single before being pinch run for by Sydney. Amanda followed with her one-out single, before Audrey's two-out heroics.
Radnor trailed 3-0 from the first inning on, failing to score itself in the first inning after loading the bases with no outs. But in the bottom of the 5th, Audrey led off with a walk, followed by a sharp single from Carolyn Eckstein and an infield single by Quinn Tobias. With the bases loaded, senior Cate Remphrey smoked a two run double down the left field line to bring the Raiders to within 3-2. With two outs, and two runners still on, Libby Tewksbury had an infield single scoring two runs, with courtesy runner Emma Dalkin sprinting home all the way from 2B. Amanda followed with her first RBI single to build the lead to 5-3. After a scoreless 6th inning, the stage was set for the dramatic 7th inning.
Tess Massaro earned her first varsity win as a pitcher, hurling the last five innings and holding Strath Haven scoreless until the 7th inning. Tess struck out 8 along the way, and gave her teammates the chance to come back in the game.
The walk off win was a true team victory, as 8 different players had hits, and 8 girls each scored a single run. Radnor moves to 3-2 overall, 2-2 in the Central League.
