Mineo Throws 2-Hitter in League Opener
Ray Mineo threw a 2-hit gem in the league opener in a 7-1 victory over Braman Post.
Mineo allowed a hit in the 2nd inning that scored a run and a 6th inning double who wound up making a base running blunder to erase that the next hitter. Ray pounded the zone, used his good defense behind him and struck out 5 batters.
Greece got 2 quick runs in the first with a Mike Ruta leadoff single and stole second. He was scored on a Thomas Finnerty single. Isaac Yorkey hit a single to right two batters later to score Finnerty.
A big 5th inning broke the game open. Jamison Lynd led off with an infield single and got to second on a throwing error. Ruta scored him on a blast of a triple to right center. Finnerty knocked him in with a line drive to right field for a single. Yorkey hit a two run single to score the other runs of the inning.
Ruta decided his next ay bat to shop at another gap with his second triple of the day to left center scoring Mike Mule to cap off the scoring for the day.
Ruta was 3 for 4 with 2 triples and 2 RBIs. Yorkey was 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs and Finnerty was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs to lead the offense for the Generals (2-0)
