Reds Catch Bandits in 9th to Tie Game
The Bandits took a 7 - 3 lead into the 9th only to see it evaporate with back to back triples followed by two walks and two errors. With the winning run on base, the Bandits were able to close the door on the come back Reds but with time gone, a tie was all either team could claim. Jeff Gould pitched a masterful 6 innings for the Bandits allowing only two hits while striking out 5 and left the game with a 7 - 2 lead. Tony Covarrubias threw all 9 for the Reds and had 7 Ks while giving up 11 hits. Celino Escalante had two hits on the day for the Reds including a big triple in the 9th while Mike Guise, Octavio Martinez, Darren Hubert and Anthony Dipietro each had two hits for the Bandits.
