Dont call it a comeback

The Senators came into Spec Pond riding the tidal wave that was a 2 game winning streak. That wave would come crashing into the jetties juggernaut that was The Wolfhounds. Would the Senators tidal wave treat them like Fukishima? Or would it sputter out and merely appear as a stain of incontinence on their undersized jock straps.

The two teams would battle back and forth and enter the 8th inning tied at 5. Wolfhounds ace Mike Fortier would keep the Senators bats relatively quiet. As would the Senators combination of Mike Lord and Paul Texeria through the initial sets. Miscue's on both sides defensively however would keep things knotted up.

The momentum would shift in the Senators favor after a spectacular play by the ever Usain Bolt-esque Kevin Linnehan. The "Piano Man" as those closest to him call him risked life and limb while trying to reach 3rd base when he suddenly dove head first about 15 feet too early. The audible grunt heard as he belly flopped into the Spec Pond sod almost seem to describe the Senators season. Initial reports indicated he had been struck by a snipers bullet. Linnehan, with his glorious head of hair whipping in the breeze, managed to army crawl his way safely into 3rd base and avoid further injury. He credited his tenacity to his days back at that now defunct Newbury College. "Newbury taught me how to be man but today I became a man" he told reporters later. Mike Lord would also throw out a baserunner from about 500' away in centerfield, Mark Adams would supply the clutch hit in the 9th that would supply the game tying RBI and later result in him scoring the winning run...but none of that came close to "The Slide". Former Red Sox hero Dave Roberts, know for his crucial stolen base against the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS, attended the game and said "that's the greatest slide in the history of Massachusetts baseball. I only wish I slid into 2nd base like that in '04."

The Senators would ultimately win in walk off fashion in the 9th with Pedro Clemente working a wild pitch that allowed Adams to score the winning run. Peter Varley, with his attorney in attendance, would slam the door shut to earn the win. After the game, the man now referred to as the greatest coach and lover of all time, Brandon Seymour said "damnit that slide was amazing, but in all seriousness I cant wait for Moose and Jack to get back, I had to deal with having to take a dump all night with the bathrooms locked plus managing like 20 guys."

The Senators tidal wave looks to pound The Bullies shoreline this Saturday in a double header...unless of course some other bull s&%@ mosquito virus screws things up.
