Lakers hold on in another rivalry battle
These 2 teams have had problems from the start. This game only fueled the fire. The game got chippy very early as for the first time in NOBL history The Commish was accused of calling "weak" fouls. Both teams would make several controversial calls that the other team did not respect. The Lakers and Wizards (debuting as a new team) battled back and forth with no lead bigger than 9 throughout. With 1:31 left in the game the Wizards had the ball and tried to dribble out clock but a costly turnover and immediate fastbreak bucket gave the Lakers the lead by 1. The Wizards had many chances afterward but couldn't put a bucket in, meanwhile the Lakers could not end it with free throws, hitting only 1 of 3 to put themselves up 2 with 15 seconds left. The Wizards had many more chances, as Nick DeFeo was fouled at the buzzer while attempting a layup, he hit the first, but the second took an unlucky bounce giving the Lakers the controversial W.
