Pelicans finish on top in crucial classic
This was a battle. It was an important game in terms of standings because it looks like these 2 teams could be duking it out for a playoff spot, and this win gave the Pelicans the tiebreaker in the event that the 2 teams end up tied in the end. The 2 teams fought back and forth, the Lakers at one point led by 10 but that lead quickly diminished as the Pelicans ball movement and pressure defense then gave them a late lead. Both teams hit clutch shuts, especially Duffy Barrett's game tying 3 with a minute left. Afterwards the Lakers missed a few shots, and the Pelicans then were fouled on a layup attempt as Matt Glenn hit 1 free throw to give the team the lead. The Lakers missed another shot as it rimmed in and out, they fouled the Pelicans several more times, as the team could only hit 1 more free throw. Dave Delattre got the ball with under 10 left, drove to the basket and there was contact but no foul call, a decision in which he pondered afterwards.
