Sonics finally get W by surviving crazy comeback
The Sonics can finally breathe a sigh of relief as they got their first W since their blockbuster trade. It wasn't easy. Despite a lead of 19 points, they couldn't put the Lakers away. The Lakers trailed by 9 with 2 minutes to go, but The Commish had perhaps his finest game, scoring 7 points in a minute and 30 to tie the game. The Sonics missed a few potential sealing free throws. 2 controversial calls by Randy Young led to a few minutes of bickering but ultimately those 2 calls did not change the outcome. The Sonics were up 3 with 6 to go, the Lakers drew up an inbound play and The Commish faded away and attempted a bank 3 that looked in, but bounced out, giving the Sonics an extremely important W in a game for the ages. It should be noted, Mike Blank became the first NOBL player to record 2000 points.
