The Wildfire opened the Spring 08 season in grand fashion. Geena Lingberg scored in the first minute off an Alex Malek pass to the top of the box. One minute later, Lingberg scored again from outside, giving the Wildfire a lead that would never be threatened. Later in the half, Lingberg narrowly missed scoring her first hat-trick, slamming a Taylor Vitelli corner kick off the cross bar.
