Great win this weekend boys. I still think the SJ Youngs Guns drove to the field as opposed to being passengers like all of you, be that as it may. You all showed that it takes 21 outs to complete the game and boy did we open the can after going down 5-1. Congrats on never giving up and giving me and the others who support you another great weekend of baseball. Looking forward to the summer and the remaining tournements.

Following the 14u Memorial Day Championship loss. I too thought a lot about yesterday and have this to say... know that what we have many teams will never have no matter what their records say for them as a team, I will stick with the one that is set on building life long winners not short term ones. What is winning …really? Many believe that winning is all about the score. But reality shows us that there is a lot more involved than just the score. Don’t get me wrong, the score, well it is a big part, I mean we all want to win and be the "top dog" right? But it certainly is not everything. Winning also includes the following elements pride, dignity, respect, and teamwork. A team is looked upon not just by their records but by their attitudes both on and off the field, it follows you everywhere. The mental aspect is every day, all day, 24/7 the physicality occurs at the practices and games, not so every day is it? You can be a winner each and every day as long as your attitude is at the top of your game 24/7. Winning is about being gracious winners but more important being able to accept losing with even more grace than winning. A lesson learned, learning from mistakes and moving forward to the next at bat, fly ball, strike, pitch, you get the idea… Winning is much more than the score, it is hard to accept when you are not the “top dog” at the end of a long game but does it really make you a “loser”? The more reflection on that question the more the contemplation…the answer is not so black and white. You can actually look at a “scoring loss” as a win if you approach your “scoring loss” with the right mentality. Yes, yesterday’s “scoring loss” hurts, we all want to be the “top dog” but after contemplating, well I actually feel that we won. We had pride, dignity, respect, teamwork and accepted our loss with grace. So, I think I will consider it a win, even though it won’t be scored in the book that way. Until the next time we get to see our gracious boys on the field, I will remain a proud parent and fan of our team. Remembering that winning is more than the score and knowing that we are certainly raising a bunch of life winners who will hopefully be able to handle winning graciously and losing even more graceful. After all, unfortunately life is full of "losing experiences"...but how you look at them as a win is even more important, isn't it?

14U Team -Keep your heads up continue to work, be proud we had to play 4 strong teams, needing to beat two quality well coached teams, the New England Fire birds and Team Rawlings in pool play to advance, we accomplished that and battled in the semi's and championship coming up short. "The most important thing is to remain even-keeled, avoiding the emotional highs and lows. It's the best way to play baseball. If you believe in what you are doing every day, and you do it well, it doesn't matter who you’re playing, because you are still playing the way you practice. The game comes to you. The same can be said for many everyday tasks.
