I was very humbled to throw out the first pitch on Friday. My family and I were in town to visit you and attend my son Kenny's(BW '04) graduation from Mount Saint Mary's. Kenny was on the baseball coaching staff at the Mount. Kenny took his ethic from BW and contributed to the Mount. He also was the Student Manager for the basketball team. He stayed focused and overcame every obstacle. He is a great example of a BW grad. Your efforts on Friday made me proud you did not give up. The rebound on Saturday was great. Continue to play well and bring home another State Title. Keep hitting the ball and never lose faith. Remember, it is an easy game, see the ball, hit it. I miss BW baseball.

Gentlemen, you continue to make me proud of your efforts and ethic. Although I am not there physically, I am there in spirit. Seniors, leave it al on the field. Play as if there is no tomorrow. Underclassmen, give the seniors your best everyday and make it your best year. Once again, the talent is on Haystacklet everyone know that they played the boys in burgundy. The Spartans have quite a legacy - add to it. City play begins today, play hard, have fun and don't forget to thank God for each day. There will be plenty of "atta boys!" GO SPARTANS!!!!

Do it again in 2009, Spartans. I played for LaSalle 1960-1964 and we had a very good team, though our number of games was fewer than nowadays. My son Jake played at BW 1987-1990 and in his junior year was 8-1 on the mound under Coach Lee Miller, a great baseball man. Lee, of course, also had a team that won a small schools tournament. Jake went on to pitch at Garrett Community College and West Virginia Wesleyan College. He finished his college diamond career with 23 wins, including a no-hit, 1-0 win over Bluefield State. Best of luck this season to BW. See you on the field.
