I know weather is a problem, but if you host a tournament and promise to update the schedule changes on your web page.....and then do not, you create problems. Very unclassy.

Growing up in Warwood and playing for some great Redbird teams with some great players, I always wondered why Warwood opted for a Pony baseball charter rather than Little League. I have attended many Little League Southern Region tournaments in St. Petersburg, FL and have always cheered the team representing the old Gold & Blue, but have thought that there must be better teams in the state (and in Wheeling) than the ones that show up in St. Pete (Southern Regions now in Warner Robins, Ga.). I continue to read how the local high schools in Wheeling perform and can't help to wonder how those kid's would have done had they been given a shot to play little league. Don't think they would ahve competed with the kids from FL & GA, but would have been nice to see a Wheeling team there. Also, curious to know what is the furthest a Warwood team has advanced in Pony Baseball tournament play.

I find it very amusing that it seems the children on each team tend to get along beautifully, enjoy playing with one another and have a great time in the process, however, their parents cannot do the same. Since when can we not cheer for a team as a whole? It is all about MY child. No matter the age, the athletic ability or the living situations, let's try and remember who this about, people, your kids. Building their self esteem. Having fun. Over the past several seasons, I have noticed a growing trend, even the best of friends seem to secretly take delight in another child's screw up, while their child shines. Everyone has good days, bad days, good games, bad games. these are kids. Boy or girl, young or old, not every pitch with be a strike. Not every play will be perfect. Not every hit will be a home run. I think we all need to take a step back, here in Warwood, and remember why we are here. There is a growing trend that Warwood is horrible to play against and for, by some. Let's try not to make this the case. This is an incredible organization that we should all be proud to be a part of. Your kids certainly are. As adults, can we not do the same? Sure, I like to win, just liek the rest of them. I like to see my child achieve, but even more, I like to see a kid who never gets a hit, get one and the smile on his/her face when all the kids are cheering, whether it matters to the final outcome of the game or not. We are building our future in these kids. How do we want them to be as adults? Always theinking they are each individualy better, therefore not knowing how to work as a team? How far in life will that get you? Just something to ponder.....
