RECAP OF THE 2022 SEASON
Richie Burton Club Champion and Joe Cook was Handicap Champion.
John McAndrew and Mike Herold won 2 Tournaments in 2022
John McAndrew, Eggy Kane, Don Webster, Joe Cook, Dennis Wagner, Joe Baglio, Jonathan O'Sullivan all won their first INIS FADA Tournament.
Don Webster was the 2022 Money Leader with $319, followed by Vinnie Marcello with $270 (Note $4,410 was the total sweep money collected) The all time leading money winner is Ed McCloskey with $1676.
Ed McCloskey has also won the most tournament with 12 since 2011.
Sharp shooter Vinnie Marcello hit 4 Closest to the Pins followed by Kevin Owens with 3. Vinnie is also tied with Ed Gaffney with 18 CTP's since 2011.
Frank Ozol had the low tournament score of 63 at Swan Lake on 5/25/22. Jim Carney had high tournament winning score with 78 at Wind Watch on 5/11/22
Average Score to win a tournament in 2022 was 69.8.

Inis Fada is crowning a new CLUB CHAMPION as RICHIE BURTON defeated Greg Eggy Kane. Richie was up 3 holes after the first round which was played at Spring Lake. Eggy fought hard in the second round which was played at Cherry Creek Links but Richie final won the match 4 and 2 on the 34th hole.
The Handicap Champion was crowned as Joe Cook outlasted John Creeron at Spring Lake on 10/12/2022

KING OF THE HOLE 2022
The King will be back in 2023 however the King Hole will be picked before the round is played.
Week20: There was $480 left in the King pot at our final which as per the rules was split with all the low scores on the hole. 8 members made net 3's on the 8th hole at Spring Lake on 10/12/22. The Kings were: R. Burton, E. Kane, J Creeron, C. Gandolfo, J. O'Sullivan, D. Wagner, D. Webster and F. Morabito
Week 19: The King held out to the final week as Phil Mendolia and Cliff Sommer made birdie 5's on the 18th hole at Cherry Creek the links. the pot will be approximatley $500 for the final tournament next week at Spring Lake. Remember the pot will be split by all low scores on the king hole. Also the hole will be picked BEFORE the round os played.
Week 18: The King is holding his own as we approach the end of the season. There were numerous 4 for 3 on the 5th hole at Spring Lake on 09/07/22. The Pot will be 335+ in 3 weeks at Cherry Creek Links.
Week 17: The King is staying strong as there were numerous 3 for 2's in the par 3 11th hole. Next week the pot will grow as we are starting with $232.
Week 16: The King was able to keep his throne as numerous players made par 3 net 2 on the 14th hole at Wind Watch. The pot will be $163 plus next week t Willow Creek.
Week 15: Yes the King kept his thrown as Eggy Kane and Joe Astarita made a par 4 net 3 on # 5 of the Spruce. $66 will be carried over next week at the Memorial.
Week 14: The King couldn't hold the crown for 1 week as Vinny Marcello made a Birdie net 3 on the 9th hole on the Spruce at Middle Island. A new King will start next week.
Week 13: Don Webster took down the King at Spring Lake as he made a par 5 net 4 on the Par 5 18th hole. Don took home $228 for his efforts. Nice going Don. A new pot will start next week at Middle Island.
Week 12: The King is alive and well as Joe Baglio and Kevin Owens made birdie 2's net 1 on the 5th hole on the Dogwood @ Middle Island. The pot is now $148+ next week at Spring Lake
Week 11: The King held his ground as there were numorous net 2's on tWhe 2nd ehole at Willow Creek. $78 will be carried over to next week at Middle Island.
Week 10: Its hard for the King to keep his throne as Mike Herold made a birdie 3 net 2 on the 11th hole at Links at Cherry Creek. Mike took home the pot of $140. Nice job Mike.
Week 9: And finally the King has kept his throne Joe Cooke, John Creeron and Kenny Rodgers all made net 3's on the 3rd (12th) hole on the Spruce on 07/06/2022. The pot of $70 will be carried over to next week at the Links at Cherry Creek.
Week 8: The King cannot seem to keep his throne as once again he was knocked off. Dennis Wagner made a Birdie 4 net 3 on the 5th hole at Wind Watch. Dennis walked away with a pot of $70. Congratulations Dennis.
Week 7: The King didn't last a week as Joe Baglio made a Par 4 net 2 on the 9 hole at Middle Island. Joe gets a pot of $72. It should be noted that a fes other players also got 4's but only got 1 shot. Congratulations Joe!! Once again a new pot will start next week at Spring Lake.
Week 6: The King was dethrorned as Carl Gandolfo made a par 4 net 3 on the 15th hole at Cherry Creek Links on 06/08/22. Carl takes home a pot of $128. congratulations Carl. A new pot will begin next week at Swan Lake.
Week 5: The King is back as he kept his thrown at Willow Creek on 06/01/22. $68 will be carried over next week .
Week 4 And the King has been toppled as Dave Cohen made a birdie 3 net 2 on the 13th hole at Swan Lake on 05/25/22. Fortunately for Dave but Vinny Marcello also make a birdie but did not get a shot on the hole. Dave Wins the pot of $325!! Congratulations. A new pot will begin next week at Willow Creek. It costs just $2.00 a week. You have to be in it to win it.
Week 3: The King is holding is throne as there were a few net birdie 3's on the 1st hole at Spring Lake on 05/18/22. $235 will be carried over to next week at Willow Creek.
Week 2: After a one week cancelation due to rainny weather the King held his ground on a very difficult day at Wind Watch on 05/11/22. For the first time the King was picked after golf and the 2nd hole was picked. There were numerous pars on the hole. The King is now worth $147+.
Week 1: After a year hiatus the King was back strong as ever as there were numerous net 4's on the very difficult 8th Hole at Swan Lake. Theth Pot of $58 will be carried over to next week at The Woods.
GUIDELINES: To enter the King of the hole the cost is $2.00 each week. Each week the pot is carried over to the next tournament if no one topples the king. You must enter the tournament each week to participate. If you miss a week you can still enter the king but you must make up all weeks that you missed.
NOTE: The king hole can be any par hole and any handicap hole. A random hole is selected each week from a deck and that is the king hole.

INIS FADA MEMBER MAKES A HOLE IN ONE
Congratulations to Don Webster as he made a Hole in One on the 14th hole par 3, 130 yards at Mill Pond Golf Course. Don played his normal 7 iron dropped it perfectly on the green and it rollwed into the hole. For Don it was his second career hole in one and came after being on a 5 week injury list.

INTERCLUB MATCH 08/25/22
On 08/25/22 a team of Inis Fada Members played an Inter Club match against the Shamrock Club at Pine Hills. Unfortunately Inis Fada did not fare too well as the Shamrocks defeated Inis Fada 6 matches to 4.
A good time was had by all. Inis Fada is looking forward to a rematch next year.
EGGY KANE MAKES AN EAGLE 3 @ PINE HILLS
On 08/25/22, Eggy Kane made an Eagle 3 on the Par 5 15th hole at Pine Hills during the Inter Club match versus the Shamrocks. Eggy hit an incredible drive of 300 yds over a weeping willow tree and a pond on the dogleg left 15th hole. He hit a rescue club for his second shot which landed 30 ft from the pin. He was able to sink the 30 foot right to left putt for an eagle 3. Nice going eggy!!! Above is a picture of Eggy describing the hole to the group.

On 08/24/22, Jonathan O'Sullivan made an Eagle 3 on the Par 5 10th hole at Wind Watch. Jonathan hit an incredible seond shot to within 18 inches for an easty tap eagle 3. On 07/20/22 @ Willow Creek Phil Mendolia took down 12 time Champ John Gannon in a Quarter Final Scratch match at Willow Creek. The Match which was tied after the first 18 holes was final decided on the 36 hole as Phil won 1 up. ’m not sure if everyone knows but 15 years ago two members of Inis Fada members accomplished an extraordinary feat by playing a round of golf in each State in the United States. Joe Dimaggio and Tom Nodell began the golf Odyssey on June 8, 2003 @ Barefoot Landing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and completed the trek on August 11, 2007 @ Eagleglen Golf Course at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.

Add numbers together and that is the distance you should play:

Congratulations to our handicap chairman Chris Marinis for getting a HOLE IN ONE down in Florida over the winter of 2016. Chris as he does every year was working on his game in Florida when he scored his ace, which by the way is his second life time hole in one! I believe Chris hit a 6 ion to the 150 yard hole. Congratulations Chris!!
On the subject of Hole in Ones the Club pays any member $100 if they get a hole in one during a club tournament only. To date nobody remembers the last hole in one made during a club event. We believe its been over 12 years.

Inis Fada Tie Breaker for Tournaments
If there is a tie for first place in a Tournament the following procedure will be used:
1. Best Score on the back nine including handicap. Note: A 15 handicap will get 8 strokes on back nine.
2. If still tied after back nine; than add up total of last 6 holes. Note: a 11 handicap would get 4 shots (11/3=3.6); a 19 handcap would get 6 shots (19/3 = 6.3)
3. If still tied after total of last 6; than add total of last 3 hole. Note a 11 handicap would get get 2 shots (11/6=1.8); a 19 handicap would get 3 shots (19/6 = 3.1)
This system is the recommended by the USGA.
RAINY DAY PROCEDURE
If it is raining or a threat of rain on the day of the tournament:
1. Call the Scheduled Course to see if it is open. Remember, If the course is open we are obligated to play! (If there are no carts you are not expected to play.
2. Call your Captain to find out the club's plans for the day (Course open or closed)
3. If the tournament is cancelled we will contact the Captains who in turn will contact their respective group.
INIS FADA MATCH GUIDELINES
1. The committee will put all match opponents in the same foursome when both are at the tournament.
2. Opponents should play the match if both are present at the tournament. If there is still time left and both opponents agree, then the match can be postponed (only within the allotted timeframe).
3. All matches must be played in the allotted time frame. If the match is not played the committee will declare a winner.
4. If a player has a scratch match and a handicap match to play, the handicap match should be played first. Opponents can agree to play either match at a tournament, however, they MUST inform the committee prior to the foursomes being made so they can be in the same group. Likewise if the same opponents have both a handicap and a scratch match against each other, the handicap match should be played first.
5. Matches do not need to be played on a Tournament Day. Opponents can agree to play the match at any time or place. When the match is completed please inform the committee in a timely manner.
6. The use of tiebreakers is encouraged. Remember that it is not always feasible to use the "19th" hole. Examples of other tiebreakers that can be used are last nine, first blood, last blood, or best net score. Try to decide on a tiebreaker before you start the match, especially if time is short.
7. Disputes between opponents should be resolved on the course. Remember 2 balls can be played during the round on the particular hole with the rules question. If the dispute cannot be resolved it should be brought to the committee ASAP after the round.
