MEDWAY COED SOFTBALL 2023 LEAGUE RULES

Medway Coed 2023

League Rules:

Teams must have 2 or more females to play without being penalized. If a team only has 1 female, they can only bat 10 people. Teams can only play 9 in the field, with the girl being one of them. The 7th slot will be an automatic out.

Batting:

2 females = female 1 - 5th spot occupied - female 2 no less than 7th.

3 females = female 1 - 5th spot occupied. Female 2 - 7 spot occupied. Female 3 - no less than 9th.

4 girls = female 1 - 5th spot occupied. Female 2 - 7 spot occupied. Female 3 - 9th spot occupied. 4th Female can hit where ever you want.

When a male is at bat, outfielders can stand where ever they want.

If a player is thrown out of a game by the umpire he/she is suspended for the next scheduled game.

Fighting will not be tolerated. If a player has an altercation with another player or a VFW member where punches are thrown or pushing is involved, that player/players will be suspended for 1 calendar year, from the date of the incident.

All bats must have a USSSA approved stamp on it. Please see the league commissioner for any clarification on this.

Subs are allowed for a team to make 9 and 10 players. You lose 1 run per player. Once you start a game with a sub the run(s) do not come off the scoreboard. Male sub(s) have to bat 9th and 10th. Female sub has to bat 7th. If missing the second female the 7th spot is an out. Subs can play anywhere in the field.

As always you can play with 8 players with the opposite team providing a catcher. The catcher is only there to receive the pitch from the pitcher and throw it back. That player does not play defense for the other team.

With a female at bat, all outfielders must stay behind the painted white outfield line. RULE CHANGE: There cannot be a 5th infielder for female batters. As always, defense can be played anywhere for male batters.

Mercy Rule: 12 Runs after 5 innings. Home team gets last at bat.

Teams are limited to 3 over the fence home runs per game. Any home runs over the fence after 3 is an out.

If a team forfeits, they are required to pay the $40.00 umpire fee.

Winning teams must report the winning score to Brian Lavoie.

No drinking during the game.

No outside drinking. (bringing your own, drinking on the bench, or in the parking lot) Please all drinking must be in the bar, before and after the game.
