A championship game doesn’t always live up to its billing, but this one sure did!  Both teams came out hot!  After the first inning, the score was 5-4 Tigers.  The Rangers turned up the heat defensively in the second inning, holding the Tigers to 4 runs, with Gage recording the 3rd out with great fly ball catch in LCF.   The boys in blue really came through in the 2nd, tying the game at 9-9.  The Rangers scored all 5 of their runs in the 2nd with 2 outs.  The third inning was all defense.  At the top of the 3rd, David recorded the first out!  The Rangers held the Tigers scoreless when Davis snagged a fly ball in right and threw it to Jonathan (2B) for a double play!  The Tigers played equally stingy defense in the bottom of the 3rd , and the game was still knotted at 9-9 after 3 innings of play.  The Rangers took the field in the top of the 4th and were again up to the task, with Thomas snagging a fly ball for an out and Michael making a nice play at 3rd.  The Rangers held the Tigers to 1 run, and then came out gunning at the plate.  The boys in blue scored 5 solid runs off of a base-clearing HR by Owen, followed by a solo homer by Jacob.  The Rangers took the lead 14-10 and would not be denied.  The Tigers came to the plate at the top of the 5th and scored 3 quick runs.  The score was 14-13, with 2 outs and a man on 3rd.  After two foul balls on the right the side, Jonathan (P) shifted to the right, POP, the batter popped it high.  Jonathan hustled to his right and snagged it!  Game, set, match…Rangers!!  A thrilling game won by the team that led the league with defense and all-around team play all year!  Not every player gets his name in the write-up every week, but it took every single kid to win this game today!  You guys are an exceptional group of ballplayers!  Deserving champions!!!!!!!

7U Rangers-Royal Vs Tigers-Navy Semi Final Game
June 22, 2011

After a bye and an early round forfeit, the Rangers Royal started the playoffs on Wednesday night, beating the Tigers 13-2 in a 3-inning game that lasted only 24 minutes!  The Rangers started out strong defensively, with a double play recorded on a fly-out to Gage (2B), who tossed it to Davis (SS), catching the runner off the bag!  The Tigers scored their only 2 runs of the game at the top of the first inning.  After that, it was ALL Rangers ALL the time!  The boys came out swinging at the bottom of the first inning, scoring 5 quick runs with solid doubles by David and Jonathan.  The Rangers played stingy defense again in the second and third innings, which included an across the body line drive catch by David (1B).  The boys held the Tigers scoreless for the remainder of the game. The Rangers tacked on 5 runs in the 2nd and 3 in the 3rd, when the game was called.  It was a great showing heading into the Championship Game against the Texas Tigers on Saturday! We're so proud of how hard you guys are playing!  Keep up the good work!
GO RANGERS!

Yankees Vs 7U Rangers-Royal
June, 16 2011
-
Yesterday, the Rangers Royal played their last regular season game against the Yankees.  The Rangers came out hard-charging from the start, scoring 3 runs in the first inning, capped by one of two homeruns in the game hit by Jacob.  The Rangers held the Yankees scoreless in the first, with Jonathan (P) and David (1B) teaming up for a couple outs.  David added another base-clearing homerun in the 2nd.  The Rangers never looked back, pounding the ball on the way to a 13-2 victory.  The Rangers finished a great regular season (11-1) and earned a #1 seed in the playoffs!  Now the fun can really begin!
GO RANGERS!

7U Rangers-Royal Vs NTX Angels-Navy
June 15, 2011

On Wednesday, the Rangers Royal faced a tough division opponent--the NTX Angels.  The boys in blue came out strong on defense in the 1st, holding the hard-charging Angels to 1 run.  Then the Rangers came to the plate, scoring the max 5 runs off home runs by Jacob, David and Owen.   After two innings, it was tight, 7-6.  In the third inning, the Rangers really clamped down defensively, with Thomas (2B) getting a piece of all 3 outs.  The Rangers held the Angels scoreless, and then drove home 4 runs at the bottom of the third, capped by another homerun down the 3rd baseline by Owen (3 in the game!!!).  The Rangers held on in the 4th and eventually out-gunned the Angels 15-11!  One more game left before the playoffs! Let's beat the Yankees.  Go Rangers!

River Bandits Vs 7U Rangers-Royal
June 12, 2011

Another impressive victory for the Rangers Royal!  Sunday, the Rangers Royal faced off against the River Bandits.  The boys in blue started off strong, scoring 5 runs in the first inning, capped off by a thunderous triple by David.  The Rangers then took to the field and played great defense.  The inning began with a ground out made by Jonathan (P) and David (1B).  Davis snagged a fly ball at short for the second out.  The defensive play of the day was made by Harper (LCF), who caught a long fly ball hit well into the outfield!  The River Bandits were retired, scoring only 1 run.  From there , it was all Rangers.  Living by the chant, "Everybody hits, Everybody scores!", the Rangers went on to pound the ball on their way to a 13-2 victory.  No player struck out during the game!  Great game Rangers!

Mets Vs 7U Rangers-Royal
June 8, 2011
The Rangers Royal defeated the Mets today 14-0.  Playing 8 games in the past two weeks, the Ranger bats were still hot.  Every player on the team recorded a hit in the game.  Thomas, David, and Gage each hit triples, and Christopher and Jacob pounded home runs into the outfield!  The boys were solid defensively as well. In the first inning, the Mets hit the ball to the outfield, and tried to stretch for a double, when Thomas (RF) and Davis (SS) teamed up for a nifty out at 2nd.  In the 2nd, Harper made a head's up play at 1st tagging the runner as he rounded for second.  And in the play of the game, Owen robbed the Mets of a sure extra-base hit down the third base line when he snagged a hard hit line drive out of the air in the 4th inning.  It was a great outing all the way around.  Way to go Rangers! Keep it up!

Lions Vs 7U Rangers-white

RANGERS PLAYED A GREAT GAME TODAY!!!!  We played together and stood toe to toe with the best team we have played by a mile.  They made every routing play and cut off balls in the outfield, that is when we were not knocking over there heads or deep in the gap.

We all hit and made some unbelievable plays Cameron had several at first and third base, Nicholas made several at first  and Easton made a line drive in the outfield that would have been a home run or triple look routine and held down third as well.

Go Rangers!

Texas Tigers Vs 7U Rangers Royal
June 6, 2011
Playing their 7th game in 10 days, the Rangers Royal suffered their first league loss against the Texas Tigers on Monday 11-8.  The Rangers had all they could handle against the Texas Tigers.  The Rangers played good defense from the start, and had two 2-out rallies during the game to keep the game tight into the 4th inning.  The highlight of the game was a crushing HR by David with two outs driving in the 5th run in the top of the 4th giving the Rangers a 2 run lead.   But in the end, the Rangers came up a little short.  The defensive play of the day was Jacob's catch in centerfield which almost led to a double play.  The Rangers hope to rebound against the Mets on Wednesday!

7U Rangers Royal Vs Yankees and Cubs
Double Header Saturday June 4, 2011

In the first game of a Saturday double-header, the boys in blue defeated the White Sox 11-0 in 3 innings.  A little pre-game BP goes a long way! The Rangers were red hot from the start against, scoring the max runs in each official inning.  Offensive highlights include a home run by Jacob in the 1st inning, and triples by JJ and David later in the 2nd and 3rd innings.  Michael and Christopher also hit back-to-back triples in extra innings.  The Rangers were solid all the way around.  It was a great start on a steaming hot day!

While the White Sox game was won with explosive offense, in the second game of the double-header, the Rangers Royal defeated the Cubs 11-0 with stifling defense.  The Rangers started off strong scoring 5 runs on offense.  Then, the Rangers recorded 3 straight outs: first, with a double play by Davis (fly ball to SS) and David (catch at 1st), followed by Gage (2nd) and David (1st) teaming up for a quick ground-out for the third out.  This really took the air out of the Cubs.  Every player recorded at least one out in this defensive showcase.  Showing he's a true ballplayer, the thriller of the game was a grand slam HR by Thomas in extra innings -- not bad for a kid coming off of being sick!
GO RANGERS!

Red Sox-Navy Vs. 7U Rangers Royal

June 1, 2011
The Rangers Royal really came to play tonight!  Staying undefeated, the Rangers outmatched the Red Sox in every facet, blanking the Red Sox 14-0 after three innings.  Most of the team recorded three or more hits in the game.  David and Jonathan each hit a home run in extra innings!  The Rangers base running was much improved as well.  Let's hope these bats stay hot for the weekend!  Go Rangers!  Keep up the great work!

The 7U Rangers Royal participated in the Frisco Memorial Wood Bat Tournament this weekend.  They played their first seeding game against the Irving Canes.  It was hot and windy, and the Rangers started out slow, falling 11-1 after two innings.  They came alive from the third inning on, but the slow start was too much to overcome – ultimately falling 14-9. Playing back-to-back games, the Rangers played their second seeding game against our own Rangers White.  Already warmed up, the Rangers Royal were on fire from the start, prevailing 14-6. The Rangers Royal drew a 5th seed for the tournament, drawing the Phillies in the first round.  In 25 mph winds, the Rangers played hard, but were out-gunned, 13-10.  The defensive plays of the game were made by David (1B) and Gage (2B), who paired up for back-to-back ground-outs, keeping the Rangers in the game until the end.  Although the Rangers didn’t advance the way they had hoped, the tournament was lots of fun.  The teams were very talented, and the Rangers learned they can play with anyone!
Go Rangers!

7U Rangers-Royal Vs Tigers-Navy
May 18, 2011

What a turnaround!  The Rangers Royal really showed what a difference a little batting practice can make.  The Rangers drilled the Tigers 12-1, scoring the max runs in virtually every inning!  It was a real hit parade, with EVERYONE on the team getting at least one hit.  More than half the team got two and three hits in the game.  Jacob and Harper hit home runs down the third base line, and Owen hit a grand slam!  Defensively, the team played solid as well.  The defensive play of the game belongs to Owen (3B) and David (1B) throwing out a runner from 3rd in the 1st inning.  We're on a roll! Keep it up Rangers!

7U Rangers-Royal Vs Mets
5/14/2011

It certainly wasn't their A-game, but it was still the Rangers' third consecutive win!  The Ranger bats fell asleep for the first three innings, but the team came alive in the 4th, scrapping for a 4-1 victory over the Mets.  We are looking forward to a return to form on Wednesday, when the Rangers try to keep their winning streak alive against the Tigers.
Go Rangers!

Braves Vs 7U Rangers-White
May 14, 2011

We had great hitting and fielding.  Avery had an outstanding play at Pitcher with Cameron at first on a ball in between them to make an out at first.  Then a great knock down and then pick up to beat the runner to first by Cameron on a hard hit ball going down the first base line for extra bases.  All the boys made good contact, ran the bases well, and made smart decisions with the ball.  Great game today Rangers 12 Braves 1.

Red Sox Vs 7U Rangers-White
5/7/2011

Outstanding game today Rangers!!!!  We were down 4 to 2, then we tie it up 4 to 4 in the fourth and then in the fifth inning we score 5 runs and then the Red Sox have four runs in and no outs with runners on first and second and PJ makes the play of the game snaring a line drive and immediately throwing to Nicholas at first base, who hustles and gets the double play. Everyone did an excellent job of listening and hustling today!

7U Rangers-Royal Vs Texas Tigers

5/7/2011

Another impressive victory for the Rangers-Royal against a really tough opponent, the Texas Tigers.  Highlighting a spectacular pitching performance, the team really pounded the ball on their way to a 17-11 win!  The Rangers scored the max 5 runs in three out of the four innings, without suffering a single strikeout! The 3rd inning was key for the Rangers defensively.  Gage and Jacob teamed up for a double play on a tag out between 1st and 2nd and a throw to 1st.  Owen recorded the 3rd out, snagging a fly ball at third base. The Rangers held the Tigers to only one run.  David and Davis also made key catches during the game, stifling an offensive surge by the Tigers. All the hard work in practice is paying off on the field!  Keep up the good work Rangers!

7U Rangers Royal Vs. NTX Angels-Navy
5/4/2011
Opening Day

What a season opener! The Rangers-Royal beat the NTX Angels by an impressive score of 12-3. The NTX Angels appeared out-matched, as the Rangers really came to play. The boys played solid defense, holding the Angels scoreless in (three out of five) innings. Gage and JJ each caught flyballs for outs.  The defensive play of the day was Gage's catch at second for a double play. The entire team hit the ball the well and was aggressive on the bases. This was a really great start for the first game! Keep up the great work Rangers!!!!

It was a hot, humid and windy day when the Rangers took the field against their cross town rivals, the Tigers. The boys played a grueling 4 innings packed full of big hits off the coach  and producing multiple RBI's. The base running was fierce and fun from a leisurely stroll to the first to two pro-worthy slides by Thomas to avoid tags. The Rangers defense was once again out in force and ready to pounce on any ball that came near, just as soon as they were done in the dirt. Andrew and Thomas both had nice tags for outs.  Noah displayed his famous first base pose while waiting for the boys in blue to knock in the next run.

Volcanoes Vs 6U Rangers
5/19/2010

Wednesday night, the Rangers took the field for their first night game of the season against the Volcanoes. The boys did not look rusty after their 10-day layoff. The bats were hot with all the boys getting hits off the coach. The highlight of the evening was the Rangers defense, recording 3 outs in the first inning with Zach manning first; for which Jaxon delighted the crowd with his celebration dance on the mound. The following innings showcased outs from Cooper at first, Noah with a great tag at 3rd, and Easton. Drew also had a wonderful tag on a runner at third, minus the ball, but that’s just a minor technicality “ump”.  Great game boys!

Rough Riders Vs 6U Rangers
5/1/2010
Opening day at Preston Meadow Field may have held cloudy skies but the Rangers Royal had nothing but sunny outlooks.  With helmets on, and bats in their hands, the boys of baseball were ready to take the field against the RoughRiders.  The Rangers started the season with everyone connecting with Coach Chris’ pitches and sending many balls to the outfield for extra bases.  On defense, the Rangers did very well in stopping the ball and even recorded their first, of soon to be many, 3-out innings with Thomas, “the Wall” at first base.  Rangers Royal fans are excited to see what Game 2 brings on Saturday.

6U Rangers Vs Tigers Scrimmage Game
4/23/2010

With Game 1 of the Spring 2010 Season a week away, the Rangers Royal held their first scrimmage Friday against their in-town rivals, the Tigers.  The bats were hot for all the boys and Jaxon hitting a sizzler past the outfield.  In the 1st inning, J.J. made a huge stop at short and threw to Andrew for a great catch at first. Thomas caught his first pop fly of the season at second, that almost had Coach Todd doing back flips.  In the 2nd, Hudson made two big outs at third to finish the game.  Great hustle by all!

The season kicks off on Saturday and the boys look ready to have fun and play ball!

 Go Rangers Royal!

5U Rangers Royal vs. Lugnuts
June 13, 2009

The Rangers Royal were on the field early on Saturday to take on the Lugnuts.  Coach Tim made his return to coach 1st base on his “pirate” leg and Coach Todd was at 3rd base to deliver batting helmet drum beats and bear hugs.  The Rangers had the bats working all day with good hits, great hustle and homeruns from Drew and Griffin.  Even with an early start, the defense was not asleep and had many good stops from Jeffrey and Andrew.  Easton led the team from the pitchers mound while Adam came in as the closer to finish the game.  Great game boys!

5U Rangers Royal vs. Cardinals
June 6, 2009

At the Ballpark at Preston Meadows on Saturday, the Rangers Royal battled the Cardinals in the grueling Texas sun.  The Rangers got out to an early lead with the bats as hot as the day.  Easton and Jeffrey had big hits to the grass and Drew and Thomas W. finished each inning with base clearing homeruns.  Griffin was the starting pitcher with Eric coming in for relief in the second inning.  The Rangers defense showed great team hustle even following hits to the grass.  Adam found a brief moment to wave to his Aunt Tami Joe in between stops.   Eric closed the game with a big stop at the mound and made a valiant attempt to get the force out at home.  Great hustle boys!

5U Rangers Royal vs. Angels
May 30, 2009

After a week off, the boys were back on the “dirt diamond” versus the Angels on Saturday.  With Coach Tim on Injured Reserve, Coach Bill, Coach Glen and Coach Chris were called up to lead the charge.  The Rangers starting pitcher was Klayson with Jeffrey pitching in relief in the 2nd inning.  While the Angels came with some heavy bats and big hits, the Rangers were ready with defensive stops by several players.  Some even required a little dance or a wave to mom afterwards.  The Ranger bats were hot with Jeffery and Drew hitting homeruns in the 1st and 2nd respectively, and Thomas Spencer started off the 2nd by breaking the Angel’s tee.  The Rangers were scoring runs so quickly; Jake had to stop short of Home plate to wait for Coach Chris to move the tee so that he could touch home for a score.

Next Up: Cardinals vs. Rangers

GO RANGERS!

5U Rangers-Royal Vs. Rangers White Pin
May 17, 2008

After a rain out on Saturday, the boys were back in action on Sunday versus the Rangers in pinstripes.  The boys showed their enthusiasm to be back on the playing field with great team effort to stop every ball – Ranger tackle t-ball style.  Easton even threw a few from his knees – what an arm!  The Rangers starting pitcher was Drew and closing the action on the mound was Thomas W.  Practice is really paying off in batting with several hits making it to the outfield or further.  As Noah reached 1st base, he exclaimed to a coach, “I hit it all the way to the outfield; almost to the grass!”  After scoring a run and heading to the dugout, Jeffrey had a special wave for Dad to pass along to his new baby sister, Ellie, whom they welcomed on Friday.  Congratulations Armstrong Family!  Ranger homeruns today to finish out each inning came from Andrew and Adam.

GO RANGERS!

5U Rangers Vs Rockhounds

May 09, 2009

The 2009 5U Ranger t-ball season is officially under way!  The Rangers played their first ever game against the Rock Hounds on Saturday - can they be that big yet?    The boys were thrilled with the red dirt of a real
baseball field and marked their territory with patterns.  Andrew welcomed the crowd with a grand bow from the pitchers mound and the team followed with great defense in the field with group and individual stops.  Thomas S. had two unofficial "outs" while playing first base, Jake came up with a huge stop at pitcher and another big stop from Easton at second.  The Rangers bats were hot and peppered the field with Easton sending one all the way to the grass.  It looks like its going to be a fun year - GO RANGERS!

5U Rangers Vs Tigers Scrimmage
May 1, 2009

The Rangers played their first scrimmage game on Friday against the Tigers to prepare for their first official game on Sunday.  The boys had a lot of fun with some of them wanting to hit the ball and run either to the pitcher’s mound or third base.  The light bulbs finally went off and they realized first base comes before third base!  Their eagerness showed especially when the pile ups occurred to see who might end up with the ball.  Or, they just simply hung out and watched the ball pass by as they appeared to think “Oh, well, I missed it…maybe someone else will get it”.  All in all, it was a good game and the boys had a blast playing like the big boys.    Go Rangers!

The 5U Rangers hit the field for their third official practice.  There were many creative displays of baseball readiness!
