Steve Pinto

STEVE PINTO, owner of Pro Prospects Training Center, is a former minor league hitting, third base and bench coach. In 1996, Steve was an outfielder/first baseman for the North Atlantic League champion Catskill Cougars. He played four years of professional baseball. In 1997, Steve served as third base coach for the Cougars under Wally Backman, 2nd baseman for the 1986 World Champion New York Mets. In 1998, he was hired as the teams’ hitting coach by Gates Brown, a member of the 1968 World Championship Tigers and hitting coach for the 1984 Championship team.

Steve started Pro Prospects Training Center in December, 1997.

Steve Alhona

COACH STEVE with a wealth of coaching experience at the college level. He has been an Assistant Coach at the following college programs: Virginia Wesleyan (NCAA D-III), Georgetown University (NCAA D-I) and most recently at Marist College (NCAA D-I). Coach Steve was a middle infielder at D-III Chowan College in Murfreesboro, NC where he earned his degree in Physical Education/Sport Sciences. Coach Steve is presently an admissions counselor at Sullivan County Community College and Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator for College of St Rose (NCAA D-2) in Albany, NY. 

Jared Carrier

“COACH JED” played two years of collegiate baseball at Broome County Community College (NJCAA D-III) where he was the starting first baseman. During the summers he was a member of the Binghamton Knights who competed in the NY-Canadian Baseball League. Jared, a 1997 graduate of Delaware Valley in Callicoon, NY was a 4-year starting outfielder and pitcher and a three-time Western Sullivan League All-Star. Jared’s past coaching experience includes two years as an assistant coach for the Brockport (NY) High School JV team, one year hitting coach for Genesee CC in Batavia, NY, head coach of the Sullivan Spartans of the Mid-Hudson Collegiate Baseball League and is currently an assistant coach at Sullivan County Community College. Jed graduated in 2002 from SUNY-Brockport with a degree in Physical Education/Sports Management with minors in business administration and coaching. Jared has been a member of the Pro Prospects staff since May, 1999 and is the current general manager. Coach Jed will be the skipper for Northeast Pride 17u/18u College Showcase team.

The 2015 season marked Coach Straub’s second season as an assistant coach with the Keystone College’s baseball team. Straub’s is primarily responsible for working with the Giants’ pitchers and catchers and is also actively involved in recruiting.  Coach Straub enjoyed an outstanding playing career in which he played Division I baseball before transferring to Keystone College where he helped lead the Giants to their first-ever NCAA Division III Collegiate World Series. 

In addition to his tenure at Keystone, Straub also has coached for the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) where Coach Ryan Smyth, Keystone’s hitting coach is the Head Coach.  The summer of 2015 will be mark Straub’s first coaching experience in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League where he will be an assistant coach for the Brewster Whitecaps under Keystone College’s and Brewster Whitecaps’ head coach Jamie Shevchik. Coach Straub will be working with our 16u and 17u Showcase teams as well as winter workouts and camps.


Tony Diaz

Tony comes to us after a seven-year stint running a baseball training facility and coaching youth travel baseball in South Florida. From 2007 through 2011, Tony was head instructor and part-owner of Baseball City U.S.A. in Coconut Creek, Florida. His coaching resume coaching duties at North Broward Prep, head coach of the South Florida Blaze from 2009-2011 and head coach of the Parkland Pokers from 2010-13.
During his playing days, Tony was a four-year starter at Division I Sacred Heart and was the team’s starting center fielder on the 2006 squad which made the NCAA Regionals.
Tony was a full time instructor at Pro Prospects from 2006-2007, he will also run the Pro Prospects Honesdale location. 

Jack Crawford

 Jack comes to Northeast Pride after 2 Professional Stints with the Quebec Capitals (Can-Am League) and the Rockford Riverhawks (Frontier League) where he was a Left Handed Pitcher. Jack started his Collegiate carerr at Dominican College (NCAA D-2) from 2007-2009 and moved onto Saint Andrews University where he was selected to 1st team All-Conference and received his Bachelors Degree. Coach Jack moved on to Franklin Pierce University to complete his Masters Degree and pitched to the 2nd lowest ERA in the Country for D1, D2, D3 pitchers.

Jack is a former Instructor/Coach for Frozen Ropes. He will head Northeast Pride 12u team as well as roving coach within the organization.

Brian Burns

Having wrapped up his 4 year stint at SUNY Plattsburgh, Brian, returned to the dugout in 2014 as the Cardinals pitching coach. In 2014 he lead all SUNYAC pitchers with a league best 2.03 ERA. Brian is also a former Sullivan Spartan and part time summer camp trainer with Pro Prospects. Currently, Brian, is the manager of our Northeast Pride 15u squad.

Joe Walentin

COACH JOE recently retired after pitching independent professional baseball in the Golden League with the Reno Silver Sox. He played for four years at Concordia University (NCAA Division II) and is a graduate of Valley Central High School where he was a two-time first-team Times Herald-Record All-Star. Joe will head the Northeast Pride 13u spring 2014.





Steve Cabarcas

Steve Cabarcas was a four year a member of the Sullivan Spartans, who have since joined forces with the Northeast Pride. Cabarcas played at SUNY Orange (04-05) and Mount Saint Mary College (06-07). He was a two-time All Conference and All Region selection. Cabarcas patrolled outfield at both colleges and had a career batting average of .330 at the collegiate level. 
Coach Cabby served 6 years as an Assistant Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at SUNY Orangeand is currently assistant coach for Mount St Mary College under head coach Steve Sosler. During his tenure at Orange, Coach Cabarcas also served as an advisory member for the Spartans prior to their merger with the Northeast Pride Organization. Over the Spartans 10 year history, close to 300 players have played for the team, with 9 players signing independent professional contracts, including one affiliated draft pick. 

Matt Berger

COACH MATT is a former pitcher and 1B/OF at Mount Saint Mary College (NCAA D-III). In his junior year, Matt batted .321 and was named a Skyline Conference First Team All Star. Matt played his summer ball with the Sullivan Spartans of the CBL under Jared Carrier and posted a 2.31 career ERA in his three seasons with the Spartans. Matt, a 2005 graduate of Sullivan West H.S. where he led the team in multiple statistical catagories including home runs in multiple seasons.

Matt spent two years as Head Coach for Eldred Central School at the JV/Modified level amassing a 19-2 and was Monticello High School Assistant Varsity Coach in 2013. Coach Matt will be a roving instructor and part time coach for Northeast Pride.
