Who is PASL?

The Petersburg Academic Sports League, known as PASL, was established in the spring of 1997 as a Feeder Program for Petersburg High School athletics. Its primary purpose, in addition to providing a positive outlet for youth, is to produce Junior Varsity and Varsity scholar athletes who, in addition to maintaining good grades, exhibit a good attitude, good behavior, and good sportsmanship.

The Petersburg Academic Sports League (PASL) is a non-profit organization committed to academic excellences and giving eligible youth, regardless of race, color, creed or athletic ability the freedom to explore the games or activities of softball, football, and cheerleading.  These programs are run by adult volunteers devoted to excellence in the areas of citizenship, friendship, leadership, sportsmanship, mentorship and scholarship.  In order to meet these standards, our youth are required to maintain a “2.0” grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 grading scale; however, encouragement of excelling above the average academic requirement by providing tutoring in addition to what’s offered by the school system.  Our participants are to maintain good attendance in accordance with the schools standards and exhibit respect for authority; encouragement of academic excellence and good sportsmanship on and off the field.

Special note:  The softball program is being restructured to enhance skills and techniques at the lowest level of the game, for developing top players beyond the youth and high school level.
