League fees are determined on a seasonal basis which includes cost deductions for ballfield permits , championship prize . divisional championship prize , divisional and championship trophies and softballs provided for the league champions who won the championship prior to the new season beginning.

Xtra Innings softball league reserves the right to make changes to any and all rules and regulations which includes and is not limited to prize monies allocated for the season whenever due cause warrants a change. Once a change is made all managers in that respected division will be notified immediately. The regulations stated under the General Information will govern all the divisions which includes lob and the womens and coed division as well. No beer bottles , beer cans or bottles of liquor including and not limited to KEGS are allowed at the ballfields at any time as this is a rule implied by the Parks Dept which can result in a loss of permits if found out and not limited to the league being fined as well. Sportsmanship and fair play will be the hall mark of our beloved softball league and it should be the guide line in which we deal with all situations before it get's out of hand. All rules and regulations displayed on this website comes from all events happening from past seasons leading up to the current season.

Grandfather rule does not exist here and teams have no say towards time and places of games to be played. The league instead depending on the number of teams that qualify for post season play will be given a choice of times GIVEN OUT by the league and starting with the 1st place team can choose the time slot and park which is available. Once we reach the championship series the league determines time and place to be played.

Free pass ( champions ) is awarded to the championship team heading into the new season as a reward for becoming league champions. Champions are supplied with softballs as well for the duration of the regular season only. Once the playoffs begin the champions must bring their own softballs.

Umpire fees for the 2018 summer season remains the same as follows :

1 umpire during the regular season ( $ 70.00 per team )

2 umpires during the semi-finals and championship series are $ 140 per team for the 1st 2 games of the series. If a 3rd game is needed both teams are required to pay an additional $ 35 each

Regulation games slated for the summer 2018 season becomes 6 innings with all games having a 1-1 count. One mercy rule is in effect as a team trailing by 10 runs after the 5th inning is completed

Rosters are not to exceed more than 17 players. All rosters must be turned into the league with first and last name including uniform number.

Each team is designated with 3 courtesy runners for the duration of the game or games played. We are now adding an INJURY EXEMPTION RULE which allows the manager the option of switching an injured player with a player on the bench who is in the role of either designated hitter or the extra hitters. If no player can can be switched with the injured player he thus becomes an automatic out in the line-up. Managers should have the other's teams line-up sheet or batting order to insure accuracy when the time comes to decide the next course of action.

No bat restrictions ! Teams can bring any bat they wish to use without any consequences at all.

No metal cleats or metal spikes are allowed to be worn by any players or managers playing in this league and not restricted to coaches as well.

Teams are allowed to bat with 12 players meaning 2 extra hitters in the line-up. Once you start the game with 12 batters you must remain the same for the duration of the game. If you lose a player to either injury or ejection from the umpire the batter automatically becomes an out when his turn comes up in the batter order.

Game schedules will be done in 2 parts in order for the league to keep up with the Parks scheduling of special events and reserved holidays that come up during the season such as Memorial Day weekend , Easter Sunday , Labor Day weekend , July 4th weekend and Mother's Day .

Tie-Breakers & Head to Head Format

* In the event that 2 teams finish with the same record the 1st tie-breaker will be the season record against each other ( head to head )

* 2nd tie-breaker being most runs scored in the season by both teams not the runs scored against each other during their scheduled doubleheader

* 3rd tie-breaker being the least amount of runs given up during the regular season

* In the event we have more than 2 teams tied with the same identical record we automatically go to runs scored for the entire season

Uniforms : all players must have the same matching shirt with the uniform number by the player in order to play in the playoffs and championship series. No player is allowed to wear any one else's shirt that doesn't belong to him. Managers or coaches cannot supply a player with a new shirt either. Teams not having enough players due to the uniform rule will forfeit the scheduled playoff or championship game and is responsible for the entire umpire fees for that series. Any team wearing new uniforms without numbers will start all games played with a 0-1 count

Protests must be made prior to the start of a game or before the next pitch is thrown. When it comes to protesting players it must be done before the GAME STARTS. Once the game starts and the team has not put in a protest they lose all rights to that privilege period. (a) Playoffs and championship rule is if you do not protest the player or players involved once the first game starts no PROTEST of any kind will be heard as the outcome is final. Once a protest is made the protesting team must get the umpire's signature in the scorebook. Any protest without an umpire's signature will not be heard at all. There are 3 types of protest that the league will listen to (1) misinterpretation of a playing rule (2) illegal or ineligible player or players (3) ejections based on games including team and individual player or players fights not limited to team fights.

Forfeit times are as follows :

Game 1 is forfeited in 20 minutes when a team has less than 8 players to start a game. If game one is forfeited the forfeiting team is responsible for 1/2 of the other team's umpire fees ( $ 70 + $ 35 = $ 105.00 )

Game 2 is forfeited in 20 minutes if the said forfeiting team still has less than 8 players to begin the scheduled next game. If both games are forfeited the forfeiting team is now responsible for the entire umpire fees of both teams ( $ 140.00 )

 League Motto

All things considered we have continued to make strides but we are still missing the final piece which will make us more than just your average league to be in. We proved that we can become very competitive as no league in this house is easy pickings as they would say in the softball world. We make judgments , sometimes good ones and sometimes we are just off the mark a little bit but we end up still having the best season to be in and our playoffs and championship games have always been top notch from start to finish. Yesterday is gone but we live for today as we once again set the bar high for a better future and with that being said the league will revise the entire rules and regulations structure with more clarified definitions so that we as a respected family league can do all things together and insure that through no fault of our own that we can have better understanding of the rules and regulations that will be followed to the tee.

 Verbal Agreement

All teams participating in the XTRA INNINGS SOFTBALL LEAGUE agree to follow all rules and regulations that are posted on this site as this is a verbal communication in which these rules are always on display for all to see and when rules and regulations are broken the league reserves the right to enforce all types of punishments within reason and not limited to either suspension of games or possible suspension for the duration of the season which includes playoffs and championship games depending on the infraction that has been brought to the league attention. The appointed League Directors have the power to enforce all rules and enforce all necessary punishment that fits the infraction that has been broken. The manager and the player or players involved reserve the right to a fair hearing if the judgment against them is not to their liking and if that does commence the league meaning me the Chief Operating Officer will review the matter with the people involved with the punishment still be carried out until a verdict has been rendered and once I render a decision regardless of the outcome it is to be followed to the tee as there will be no follow-up to the final verdict rendered by me.

The manager is the sole responsible person the league will look upon when it comes to collecting monies owed to the league and only the manager of record meaning on file is the only person the league will hand any monies won to as we don't acknowledge nor will we entertain any other distribution of prize monies to other parties not short of assistant managers or captains unless the manager himself verifies through a verbal communication , an e-mail or text verifying that he allows such a transaction to go through and therefore once all monies have been distributed the league nor it's officials or league directors are responsible for any other actions thereafter which includes players not getting their fair shares or whatever prize the manager acknowledged to it's respected players. This bylaw also goes to the managers as proof of all possible outcomes if the following events should ever happen now or again in the near future.

Managers cannot at any time enter into an agreement with another manager regarding start time of games including any prize monies to be won ! The league sets the games up during the regular season which includes the playoffs and championship series. Nobody else which includes the League Directors or my Silent Partner ( Irving Gonzalez ) can set up a game without approval from the Chief Operating Officer. (2) Umpires are to follow the rules and regulations of start times in which it has been pointed out that unless you have less than 8 players to start a game then and only then can the 20 minute grace period goes into effect (3) If a manager sets up a game or proceeds to play a game that has been called off by the league the following punishments will be levied against you with no hearing of any kind to be heard thereafter : If it's a regular season game the game will be nullified and both teams will be given a split. If it's a playoff or championship game and both teams proceed without my approval both teams will be eliminated for the for the remainder of the post-season and thus forfeit any prizes that could have been won. If it's a championship series then both teams will be eliminated and no prize monies to be awarded at all. Therefore you will forfeit any rights to any monies possibly won including money put into the season through the course of league fees paid and umpire fees paid during the season and money spent on umpires during the playoffs and championship series if you got that far and not limited to softballs and uniforms purchased too.
