BG GALA-  BATH 2,   11th & 12th MAY 2013

On Friday 10th May, the Bath 2 Gala weekend started off well, with a good journey down from Edinburgh, despite the wet & windy weather.
Kayleigh was the volunteer driver for the weekend (thanks Kayleigh!) and after collecting the car, everyone set off for the hotel, for food & an early night.
And that’s when things started to go wrong …… with poor Kirsty first to succumb to the vomiting bug, which then made its way around most of the others
during the course of the weekend!! The disappointing competition results were testament to how everyone was feeling- so well done girls, for managing to take part at all!
Hopefully the next & final Gala weekend of the season, in South Shields on 1st & 2nd June, won’t be quite so eventful!
Fingers crossed & Good Luck!

Running sessions with Brian Winning

A group of CETC DMT competitors have just finished a 5 week block of sessions focusing on improved running technique, with sprint and hurdle specialist, Brian Winning.
These sessions were a follow up to a 3 week block carried out previously, where the focus was to improve running for speed and consistency on approach to the DMT,
to generate more power and height for skill development. After seeing a huge improvement in these initial sessions which were delivered outside in a running environment,
the 5 week block was set up where access to DMT equipment was available, to allow techniques learned to be transferred into practice. Brian, as a hurdle specialist,
could identify many areas of similarity to his coaching of hurdle athletes and huge improvement was made over the 5 week block in all areas of the run up to the DMT.
The DMT competitors involved in these sessions were selected mainly as they were competing at National C level or above, and required improvement on the run up to
generate more height for harder skills. All gymnasts involved really enjoyed the sessions and noticed a big improvement as a result – thank you to Brian for all his hard work!
Brian is going to be doing further work with the Club, including involvement in some of the upcoming Summer Schools.
For more information on what Brian does - check out his website at

NORTHERN GALA - SOUTH SHIELDS – 1st and 2nd June 2013

7 CETC gymnasts competed in the final British Gala of the season on Saturday 1st June and Sunday 2nd June. This was the last chance for gymnasts to qualify for British Championships 2013,
held in the LG Arena in Birmingham from
5th7th July. This Gala was also the closest to home this year, with gymnasts travelling down to South Shields by car on the Friday night and Saturday morning,
to get ready for the competition.
First to compete on the Saturday were Kirsteen Bowie and Lauren Millar in the FIG O19L category on trampoline. Both girls performed well, but unfortunately missed out on qualifying for this year,
with Kirsteen finishing 14th and Lauren 15th. Next was Natasha Hoffmann in Nat C U15G DMT. After a fall on her first pass, Natasha performed the highest scoring and most difficult pass in her group for her second pass.
Caitlin O’Brien gained her first medal of the weekend in Nat C U19L DMT, finishing 3rd after performing 2 very good passes in the final.
Kirsteen Bowie also gave a great performance on DMT in the Nat C O19L category, qualifying for British Championships and finishing 2nd in the final – well done!
Last to go on the Saturday were our 3 synchro pairs. In the O19L category (competing against Kat Driscoll and Amanda Parker!), Lauren Millar and Kirsteen Bowie finished 6th and
Lauren Jamieson and Kirsty Beaton finished 9th. In the U19L category Ciara Donlevy and Caitlin O’Brien also finished 9th.
Lauren Millar and Kirsteen Bowie are also first reserves for synchro finals at British Championships 2013 – finishing 9th in the synchro table, narrowly missing a spot in the top 8 for finals!

The team were lucky to have a swimming pool in their hotel and CETC gymnasts enjoyed a relaxing swim (and sauna!) after the long day’s competition!

First up on the Sunday was FIG B O15L DMT with Lauren Millar, Ciara Donlevy and Lauren Jamieson all competing in this group.
All girls competed well, with Ciara finishing 5th, Lauren Millar 8th and Lauren Jamieson 9th. Next was trampolining, with Lauren Jamieson finishing 15th and Kirsty Beaton finishing 26th in Nat C O19L.
In Nat C U17G, Caitlin O’Brien and Ciara Donlevy performed very well and both made it into the final, where Caitlin finished 3rd (her second medal of the weekend!) and Ciara finished 5th.
Caitlin also gained promotion to FIG B – well done!!! In NatC U15G Natasha Hoffmann finished 10th.

Well done to all competitors after another successful weekend! We now have 6 DMT competitors and 3 trampoline competitors competing at the British Championships in July.
Tina & Rory McKinnon travelled down to watch the competition - with Kat Driscoll (Team GB Olympic trampolinist) making Rory's day by posing for a photo shoot! (see photo) Thanks Kat!

Huge thank you to coaches Lauren and Kayleigh Jeffrey and officials David Connolly, Kirsty Beaton, Kayleigh Jeffrey, Gill O’Brien, Kirsteen Bowie, Val Donlevy, Sandra Millar and Susan Hoffmann!

SG Trampoline Grading – 8th June 2013

The penultimate trampoline Grading competition before the Scottish National Championships, was held on Saturday 8th June, in Perth.
This was another chance for gymnasts to qualify for the prestigious Scottish National Championships held in November,

with the final grading before the Championships, taking place in September.

CETC competitors bounced well at this event, with some good results across the levels. In Level G U11, Lauren Innes narrowly missed out on a medal,
finishing 4th in her group – a great result! In Level G U13, Lauren Murie also narrowly missed out on a medal finishing 5th
 , but bounced really well,
and managed to secure qualification for Scottish Nationals  - and promotion to Level F – well done Lauren!
Molly Short gave an excellent performance in Level F U15, to secure a gold medal, qualification at this level for Scottish Nationals - and promotion to Level E.
Also in this Level & age-group, Niamh Paterson gave a great performance too, securing silver medal position, and also qualifying for Scottish Nationals.
Orla Donlevy finished in 1st in Regional D U13G and Eilidh Canavan finished 2nd in Regional D U15G  - excellent performances from both girls, competing in their first competitions at this level.
Despite leading after sets and vols and being 0.1 off promotion to National C, Leona Scott finished 2nd in the final of Regional D U17G –
a very good performance for her first time at this level! In Nat C, Natasha Hoffmann finished 3rd in U15G, Ciara Donlevy bounced really well to finish 1st in U17G,
and Lauren Jamieson also bounced well, finishing 1st in O19L, with Kirsty Beaton in 3rd place in the same group. Lauren Millar finished 2nd in FIG O19L.
Despite a shaky start in her set and vol, Caitlin O’Brien performed a great final routine to finish 2nd in FIG B U17G.
This was Caitlin’s first competition at FIG B level, after gaining promotion the previous weekend in South Shields,
and her final routine proved that she deserved to be at this level, only being beaten to 1st
position on tariff.
Overall, CETC secured 4 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 2 bronze medals, together with 3 more qualifications for Scottish Nationals -
and 2 promotions – well done everyone!

Once again, a massive thanks must go to Lauren and Kayleigh for all their hard work coaching, and making it possible for everyone to attend this event,
as well as all the other coaches, parent helpers and volunteers, without whom we would not have been able to take part in this competition!
Thanks to you all!

Great results for CETC at this weekend’s South East Gala in Gillingham! Six gymnasts, together with coaches Lauren & Kayleigh, parents & officials, travelled from Edinburgh to Gatwick, and on to Gillingham for the first GB Gala weekend of the season.
(see photo with new team member above!)

An early start on Saturday, saw Kirsteen first up, competing FIG 19+ Ladies trampoline. This is the second highest level of trampolining in the world - so competition is tough! After completing some lovely warm ups, she touched the end deck on skill three
in her voluntary routine, which resulted in her being marked out of two skills - although she did carry on to complete a 10 move routine - finishing 24th in the group.

Next to compete was Lauren Millar, also at FIG 19+ Ladies. Lauren completed a lovely set and for her Vol, managed to compete a slightly lower tariffed routine than planned, but with a bit of travel throughout, made the right decision to change –
tricky to do when you’re in the air - finishing 17th overall. Well done!

On DMT, Natasha was up first, competing in Nat C U15 girls. Her first two passes were great, earning her a place in the finals, and also securing the automatic qualification score for this year’s British Championships in July!
Natasha finished 8th overall in her group - a fantastic achievement at the first Gala of the season.

Ciara was next to compete for CETC at Nat C U19 Ladies DMT. This was Ciara’s first competition in her new age group (when did they all get so old?!). Competition was tough -  with some big skills being tried out.
Ciara’s passes were well executed, with her finishing 11th in her group, missing the final by only 3 places! With her great scores, Ciara also attained the automatic qualification score for this year’s British Champions! Great work!

Finally, on DMT, Lauren Jamieson competed in Nat C O19 Ladies. With only 6 in the group, Lauren automatically qualified to take part in the final, with 4 different passes to complete. Laurens first two passes were completed well,
and she gained the automatic qualification score for British Champs. In her final, Lauren completed one of her passes for the first time at competition, which was a great achievement.

Lauren Millar & Kirsteen Bowie competed in the Senior Ladies Synchro . High tech equipment is in place – monitoring and recording each trampoline, to calculate how in- sync the pairs are when they compete.
Lauren and Kirsteen completed 2 great routines – scoring the highest synchro scores in their whole group for both Set & Vol! These good routines, and amazing synchro scores, secured them 2nd place in the competition, and 8 points on the synchro league table.
They were presented with gorgeous medals, on the new GymAid mini trampoline podium! (See picture above) Great work girls - and they’ll hopefully go on to collect more synchro points throughout the season.

Another 9am start at the competition on Sunday, saw Callum kick- starting things off on trampolining in the Nat C U17 Boys group - the first competition for Callum in his new age group. He completed two good routines and finished 10th in his group,
just missing out on qualifying for British Championships, after securing the score, but missing the percentage ruling by only two places.

The girls were up next on trampoline, with Natasha competing in Nat C U15 girls and Ciara in Nat C U17 girls. Both girls did extremely well, completing two very good routines. Ciara finished 23rd (out of 61!) –
also qualifying for the 2013 British Championships for trampolining! She was also in the top 15 with ToF (Time of Flight)in her group with her routines!  Natasha completed her new Vol
(with two doubles and a couple of twisters) competing her highest ever tariff of 7.1. Well done girls!

Lauren Jamieson was last to compete on trampoline – in Nat C O19 Ladies. This was a fairly large group, with 28 competitors. Lauren completed two routines, with low scores due to travel and lack of form, finishing 21st, but completed a new Vol with a tariff of 6.5.

Callum and Lauren M were next to compete on DMT at FIG B, a very tough level in DMT - with some crazy passes being attempted!
Callum, again competing for the first time in his new age group ( FIG B O15 males), completed two solid passes and managed to finish 12th in this very, very hard group. Lauren Millar (FIG O15 Ladies) tried two new passes for this Gala, both with double somersaults.

CETC held their annual Club Championships at Lasswade, on Saturday 23rd June. Club members took part in competitions for individual Trampoline, Synchro & DMT, and everyone taking part really enjoyed this fun day.
Medals were awarded in each category & age group for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places, with a certificate awarded to every participant, in each discipline.
Club trophies were awarded for the ‘Best Form’, ‘Highest Tariff’, and ‘Highest DMT Pass’ scores.
The ‘Best Form’ trophy was awarded to Caitlin O’Brien; the ‘Highest Tariff’ trophy to Callum Connarty – with a winning tariff of 7.5, and the 'DMT' trophy was awarded to Lauren Millar, for the highest scoring DMT pass of the day, with her excellent tuck back, half-out.
A new, special trophy, the ‘Tracey Yule Memorial Trophy’, first presented to Aaron Yule at the CETC Awards 2011, was awarded to Kirsty Beaton, for her on- going contribution, dedication & enthusiasm at CETC.
As always, the Tombola & home-baking stalls were a great success – together with the Club Kit & merchandise stalls. Thanks to everyone who handed in contributions!
As an added bonus, at the end of the competition - and for the first time ever at a CETC Championships - Club members gave a fantastic gymnastics floor display, choreographed by Lauren Millar & Lauren Jamieson.
Well done to everyone taking part in the display & the competition – there is no end to the talents at CETC!!!!
As always, a massive ‘THANK YOU’ to all the coaches and parents, who volunteered to help out with judging, marshalling, manning the stalls, & all other necessary jobs on the day.
(full results under 'Competition results')

After an enjoyable day at the competition, later that evening, 28 members, parents & coaches, headed to the Beijing Banquet at Danderhall, for a slap-up meal & karaoke night, to round off a perfect day. After making sure that vocal chords had been well lubricated – the singing got off to a great start, with Susan, Lynne & Debbie treating us all to an Abba ‘Dancing Queen’ classic (yes, with all the actions!) Andy showed us where Claire got her singing talent from, with a fabulous rendition of Robbie Williams’ ‘Angel’ – and solo too (well, until the chorus – we couldn’t help it!) Perhaps the most unusual song of the evening came from Mairi – who turned another Abba classic into her own version of 'Chickentikka'. Thank you Mairi! The kids all had a great night, treating us to their favourite songs from Glee & High School Musical, amongst others. Rory didn’t quite last the whole evening – and fell asleep (not sure how he managed that through all the singing!)
An excellent evening – rounding off an excellent day. Thanks to Susan for the suggestion & organising of the night.

BG LIVERPOOL GALA - JUNE 2nd & 3rd 2012

Coaches Lauren Jeffrey, Kayleigh Jeffrey & Kirsty Beaton travelled to Liverpool, together with gymnast Kirsteen Bowie, on Friday 1st June, for the final Gala of the season. Kirsteen was due to compete the next day, in an attempt to qualify for the 2012 British Championships. The long journey and lovely night out on the Friday in Liverpool (where the Olympic Torch was making part of its journey) paid off, and Kirsteen bounced a good set and vol, securing her a place in the final, and attaining her qualification for the British Championships. Well done Kirsteen - and thanks to the coaches for making it possible!

A decision was taken prior to this event by the senior coaching team , that CETC would not participate in DMT at this Gala weekend, as all of our competitors had already made qualification for the British Championships this season! It was decided to focus on individual trampolining, and defer further BG participation in Synchro until the 2013 season.

On the Sunday, CETC had 6 Gymnasts participating at National C level for trampolining. Natasha Hoffman bounced well in the Under 13 category, clearing her caution and missing qualification by only 0.2. In the Under 15 Category, Callum Connarty bounced his hardest tariff vol to date 6.9 (the highest in his group) to secure a place in the final, and finish in 5th place, narrowly missing qualification by only 0.3. Ciara Donlevy bounced superbly, attaining exactly 50.0 - the qualification score for British Champs, but devastatingly missed qualification on the percentage rule - by only one placing. Caitlin O’Brien bounced in the same group, but on-going knee problems resulted in an unfortunate caution at this event. In the Under 17 group, Laurie Doonan didn’t have a strong day and unfortunately also attained a caution. In the Over 15 category, Lauren Jamieson bounced amazingly well in only her second National C competition, but due to small entry numbers incurred a caution, relegating her back to Regional D, despite scoring over a 4 full mark improvement on her score at the Dundee Gala.

The team had the honour of watching the Great Britain & Portugal Olympic Trial events on the Saturday evening, and congratulations must go to the only Scottish contender, 16 year old Pamela Clark from East Kilbride Trampoline Club, who finished 5th, competing against all the GB senior team, for the 2 available Great Britain Ladies Team Places.

A good weekend overall, with a qualification triumph – and a few near-miss disappointments. The qualifiers are now training hard for the British Trampoline, DMT, Synchro & Tumbling Championships 2012,which will take place at the N.I.A. Birmingham, on 7th & 8th July. GOOD LUCK!

On Friday 20th April, CETC travelled from Turnhouse to Cardiff International Airport, to start another long weekend of competitions in the hope of securing more qualifiers for the British Championships 2012. The Welsh dragon was clearly looking over us, as we had an outstanding weekend, coming home with 2 medals, a promotional offer to FIG B and 4 qualifications for British Champs!!!!

Kirsteen Bowie & Lauren Millar – Senior Ladies – 7th Place – 2 POINTS
Laurie Doonan & Caitlin O’Brien – U17 Girls – 7th Place
Ciara Donlevy & Natasha Hoffmann- Junior Girls – 10th Place

A special mention to Lauren Jamieson who competed Individual Trampoline & DMT for the first time at National C, and Natasha Hoffmann who competed at National C U13 Girls, both for the first time ever at this level - and at a BG Gala!

Well done & thank you to Mairi Doonan for organising another successful trip. Many thanks also to Susan Hoffmann for computer recording, and thanks to coaches Lauren Jeffrey & Kirsty Beaton for all their hard work over the two days of the competition.
(See 'Competition Results' for full Trampoline, Synchro & DMT results)

After a disappointing (& not very promising) weather forecast – the sun shone beautifully for our Duck Race yesterday at Catcune Farm!
In glorious, warm sunshine, everyone gathered at the farm at 10.30am, and the ducks were set on their way down river! Susan had the honour of letting all the ducks loose, and Kayleigh & Jenna manned the finish line, to scoop out the winners.
Everyone helped to make sure that the ducks reached their destination downstream – using sticks, nets & anything else they could find, to dislodge the ducks from all the stones, branches & other obstacles on the way. The children (& adults!) all had a great time, with lots of wading in wellies to rescue stuck ducks - and a drenching for Zoe & Katy – who both managed to fall in! Susan was rescued a couple of times after becoming firmly stuck in the mud on the banking- not to mention taking home wellies full of water! The towels came in handy – good thinking, mums!
A massive thanks to Susan Hoffmann for having the great idea for a Duck Race, and for organising the whole event so well. Thanks too, to everyone who turned up yesterday – and to all the CETC members & friends who sold ducks, and helped raise a huge amount for Club funds.
The winners were: 1st prize (£100)Allison Sim (sold by Mairi Doonan) 2nd prize (£50)Graham Brodie Jnr (Emma Hamilton) and 3rd prize (£25)David Hamilton (Emma Hamilton) and Kirsty’s mum was the winner of the last duck home! The winner of the prize for selling the most ducks went to Alexander Edwards – well done!
After Sunday classes, the ’Design a Duck’ competition was judged anonymously by Andy (LHSC) and the winners were:
UNDER 8: 1st-Lauren Innes 2nd- Amy Hamilton 3rd -Grace Canavan
UNDER 12: 1st -Natasha Hoffmann 2nd -Gerri Stanley 3rd - Katie Brown
OVER 12: 1st- Susan Hoffmann (!!) 2nd - Mike Donlevy 3rd - Margaret McCulloch

Most of the prizes were given out yesterday, and the rest will be given out at classes during the week.
Thanks to everyone involved.
When’s the next one Susan?????!!!

BG Hatfield Gala Weekend Review

The CETC Team flew from Edinburgh to Luton on Friday 27th January where they were met by a mini-bus and trailer, and driven to the Ramada hotel – home for the next 2 days!
Saturday was a busy day with FIG Trampolining, Synchro and Nat C DMT, so most of our Gymnasts had multiple events to take part in – Kirsteen had all 3 events in one day!!! It was commented on by other clubs how good the team looked in their 2011 Scottish Nationals Tracksuits - with nearly all parents in CETC kit too! Everyone completed their passes for DMT and performed well, especially Ciara Donlevy who completed a new skill (full back dismount) and Kirsteen Bowie who bounced 2 well executed FIG routines, despite the fact that she was on first - out of the whole competition!!
CETC’s new synchro pairs had lots of fun - and the new leotards were definitely eye catching!! The results were: Ciara & Natasha 6th (Under 15 Girls) securing 3 points towards British Championships, where the top 8 pairs from throughout the year compete in the “Finals” in July. Caitlin & Laurie placed 10th (Under 19 Ladies) , Kirsteen & Lauren 10th (Senior Ladies). This was a good starting point to the season.
On Sunday the Team had an early start to support Callum in FIG B U15 Boys DMT, who was extremely nervous for his first Gala event at FIG B, but performed 2 great passes in the Preliminary round to finish in 2nd place. In the final he attempted 2 new, higher tariff passes, and finished 4th overall, narrowly missing the Qualification Score for British Championships. Lauren Millar completed 2 solid passes in the FIG B O15 group and missed qualification score by only 0.1! In Trampoline, Ciara Donlevy competed at her first BG event at U15 National C, and performed 2 excellent routines with high form scores, but a stumble at the end of her set lost a full mark. Lauren Millar competed in the Nat C O19L group, with lovely form and a 6.5 tariff. She attained 17th place and qualification for the British Championships in July!
The standard of competition was very tough, with a noticeable increase in the difficulty of passes and routines from other Clubs in the 6 months since we last competed outside Scotland, at the British Championships 2011.
The CETC competitors from this weekend, seem focussed and driven to reach targets for the next Gala Weekend in March – Well done to them all - and good luck with their continued training.

CETC have been very busy over the last few weeks, with competitions every weekend!
Here is a resume of these events!:

BG Yorkshire Gala Weekend Review (17th & 18th March 2012)

On 16th March, 18 CETC gymnasts, parents, coaches & judges travelled to Hull for the 3rd Gala Weekend of the 2012 season. Boarding the train from Waverley to York, they arrived at their destination after a fun journey, with a definite Party atmosphere - as CETC Judge/Trip Coordinator/Treasurer, Mairi Doonan, celebrated her birthday – with a mini buffet, birthday cake and balloons, to mark the occasion!!

On the Saturday, Nat C DMT, FIG B Trampolining and Synchro took place, resulting in a full competition day for the team. Kirsteen Bowie performed well in the very tough FIG 19+ trampolining, securing 13th place. In DMT, Laurie Doonan made the finals and missed qualification for the British Championships by only 0.3. The under 15 girls gave a sterling performance, finishing in 5th, 6th and 8th places- all attaining qualification scores for the British Championships - but missing out due to the percentage rule. Aaron Yule performed well, finalling and attaining 5th place – missing out on a place for British Champs by only 0.4.

CETC was well represented in the Synchro Competition with 4 pairs entered into the competition, including our first ever boys pair – Callum & Danny!! All our ladies pairs secured points for the British Championships league table: Senior Ladies Lauren Millar & Kirsteen Bowie 6th Place = 3 points, U17 Girls Caitlin O’Brien & Laurie Doonan finishing 7th =3 points, and Junior Girls Ciara Donlevy & Natasha Hoffmann finishing 6th , also securing 3 points. The U19 Mens partnership of Danny Lee & Callum Connarty placed 4th against 2 pairs who regularly represent Great Britain – well done!!!
Many thanks go to Susan Hoffmann & Mairi Doonan for manual recording, and to Lauren Jamieson for judging at the Saturday event.

An early start on the Sunday for Callum Connarty saw him finish second after the preliminaries, and 4th in the final. Callum secured the score for British Championships, but again lost out on the percentage rule only missing the enhanced automatic qualification score by 0.5.
Lauren Millar finished in 13th place in the FIG B O19 Ladies competition.

Later in the day all our Nat C Trampolinists were outstanding, all completing their routines to a high standard- especially as for many, it was their first NAT C competition ever!!! Callum Connarty finished 9th in the U15 Boys, missing out on a place in the final by one position, Laurie Doonan finished 21st in the U17 Ladies, Caitlin O’Brien finished 22nd and Ciara Donlevy finished 15th – missing qualification for British Championships by only 0.1 in the U15 Girls. Lauren Millar finished 12th in the O19 Ladies group, qualifying AGAIN for British Championships- well done!!

Thanks to coaches Kirsty Beaton & Head Coach Lauren Jeffrey for their efforts over the weekend. A successful weekend for all, the team are now training hard, and looking forward to the Welsh Gala Weekend in Cardiff on the 20-22nd April.

9 CETC DMT Gymnasts took part in the first official SG DMT Grading (for Regional D and above) held at Meadowmill Sports Centre, East Lothian on the 11th March.
Taylor Robertson (D U15 Girls) and Lauren Jamieson (D O15 Ladies) attained the qualification scores for promotion to National C, permitting them to compete DMT on the British Circuit, by winning their respective Groups.
In the U15 National C Girls, CETC gave strong performances with the girls completing 3 out of 4 passes at the required National Level, including new moves in passes such as Straight Back, Full Front – Tuck Barani, Full Back and Tuck Back, Rudy. Well done to Ciara Donlevy who finished 1st and Natasha Hoffmann who finished in 2nd Place.

Kirsteen Bowie finished 1st in the O15 Nat C Ladies and Lauren Millar won the FIG B O15 Ladies competition.
Many thanks to all CETC judges and officials at this event who gave up their time voluntarily, very early on a Sunday morning so this event could run.

CETC had 57 entries for the first SG Grading of 2012, on Saturday 21st January. It was great to have an SG event running at our main training hub- Lasswade, although a lot of extra preparation and set up was put in by the coaches/Club volunteers beforehand, to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Everyone had an enjoyable day with over 280 competitors travelling to Lasswade for the event.
Many of CETC’s competitors were competing for the first time in Club H and Regional G levels- well done, we hope you had fun!!

Some outstanding results were obtained with many top 10 placings for Club members. CETC won 10 medals and secured 7 move- up scores:

Well done to all the trampolinists who took part in the East Lothian Recreational Trampoline Competition, which was held at Musselburgh Sports Centre on Saturday 31st March. Youngsters from Active Schools, Meadowmill recreational & Club Development classes participated in this first ever East Lothian recreational trampoline event. The results were excellent, everyone had a fun day - and well done to those who took part in their first ever trampoline competition! Big thanks from Tracey Laing (East Lothian Development Forum Chair) to CETC for all their help on the day. Well Done everyone!

The 5th BG Gala of the year came to Scotland! Four CETC Coaches - Lauren Jamieson, Lauren Jeffrey, Kayleigh Jeffrey & Kirsty Beaton travelled to Dundee on Friday, in the torrential rain, to help with the set up for the weekend’s competition - many thanks for their help.
The Saturday events were FIG 19+ Trampolining, Synchro & GMPD. CETC had their first ever participant in GMPD at this Gala. Ashleigh Lawson (from Knox Academy) competed in the Cat 1/NAT female competition, finishing in 6th place, and thoroughly enjoying her first ever British Trampoline Competition. Well done Ashleigh!

Despite incomplete routines from all 3 of our synchro pairs, they still managed to secure medals. Kirsteen B & Lauren M, 3rd in the Senior Ladies section, and Danny & Callum, 2nd place in the U19 Mens category. These were CETC’s first medals at Synchro on the British Circuit, which could be attributed to the small numbers at this event, although credit should be given for the excellent scores the pairs achieved for their completed routines, which highlights their potential in this event. Saturdays competition also involved our Nat C DMT Gymnasts, where congratulations must be given to Laurie Doonan for attaining 1st place in the O15 Ladies event, and securing promotion to FIG B. Also to Lauren Jamieson for qualifying for the British Championships, in only her second Nat C British Competition. Natasha Hoffmann secured silver in the U15 Girls, with Eilidh Canavan debuting at National level. Aaron Yule performed all 4 passes to a high standard at his second Gala this season, and Danny Lee made the final, in only his second Nat C DMT British competition.
Sunday DMT was outstanding, with Lauren Millar securing a bronze medal at FIG B DMT, her first medal at this level. Callum Connarty secured gold completing new, harder difficulty passes. The individual trampolining secured Lauren Millar a promotion to FIG B, which is an excellent, well- deserved result, as she has qualified for British Champs 2012 at 4 out of 5 Galas this year!!
Caitlin O’Brien gave a sterling performance to finish 4th, and Callum Connarty secured a bronze medal, despite only completing one routine!!
Overall, CETC had a successful weekend, returning home on Sunday with 9 medals - their highest to date at a BG Gala weekend - and 2 promotional offers to FIG B (Lauren Millar TRA & Laurie Doonan DMT). Well done to all involved, and thanks to Susan Hoffmann, Mairi Doonan, Gill O’Brien & Kayleigh Jeffrey for officialling, and to Coaches Lauren Jeffrey & Kirsty Beaton.
The team are now preparing for the last of the BG Galas this season, to be held in Liverpool next month.

CETC entered 11 pairs at the SG Synchro Championships 2012 held on May 5th at Bells Sports Centre, Perth. This was quite a small event with only 36 pairs in total entered. CETC had loads of fun at this event, and there were lots of laughs throughout the day. The relaxed approach by all the gymnasts to this competition, produced some fantastic results, with the team returning home with 7 out of the possible 20 podium placings!!!
CETC managed to attain Gold in all the level 2 categories and a Gold and 2 silver placings in the two level 3 categories!! Full results can be seen in the results section of the website. Many thanks, as always, to CETC Officials Sandra Millar, Gill O'Brien, Laurie Doonan & Lauren Jeffrey for their roles on the day, and thanks to all the seniors who helped support the youngstes in warm-ups and competition. Great day all round, and we are certainly looking forward to some great synchro displays at CETC Club Champs in June!!!

A fun day was had by all who took part in the Aerial Assault Course Challenge at the Indoor Climbing Arena, Ratho, on Sunday 29th April. Twenty eight intrepid climbers climbed, clambered & swung their way around the challenging course, resulting in lots of relieved smiley faces (& a couple of not so smiley faces – you were told not to look down!) and lots of money raised for CETC funds.
Thank you to all the members, coaches & families who took part – and a massive THANK YOU to Susan Hoffmann, who once again organised a very enjoyable & successful fundraising event for the Club.(see Photo Albums for more photos)

CETC has High Hopes for 2012 British Season
CETC started competing on the British Trampoline Circuit in 2009. In 2010 Senior Ladies Synchro partnership of Lauren Millar & Kayleigh Jeffrey debuted synchro for the Club and they continued to perform throughout 2011, regularly finishing in the top ten placings against performers competing on the world stage. Their most outstanding performance was at the 2011 Irish Gala weekend, where they finished fourth, competing against the pair ranked 3rd in the world - Kat Driscoll & Amanda Parker. Kayleigh sadly decided to retire from competitive trampolining at the end of 2011 after attaining an individual ranking of 16th in the UK at the 2011 British Championships Nat C Senior Ladies.

CETC are proud to announce their new synchro partnerships for the 2012 season:

Well done to all our Nationals competitors!

A great time was had by everyone who took part in the Club Sponsored Swim at Newbattle Pool on Saturday 8th October. More than 50 CETC members, coaches & families swam magnificently - shattering the target of 500 lengths of the pool - in just 20 minutes! That achievement fuelled the Club competitive spirit - and in the hour, the total number of lengths completed was 1396 - which equates to 34.9 kilometers - or 22 miles!!!
With the hard work over - the second hour was just for fun - and everyone had a brilliant time with the aqua inflatables (& synchronised swimming attempts!)
A massive thanks to all the coaches & parent helpers who kept track of completed lengths, signed everyone in, collected sponsor money - and generally rallied round to help out at the poolside - with particular mention & thanks to Volunteer Co-ordinator, Jayne Clarke.

The event couldn't have taken place without the use of the pool - which was very kindly donated for 2 hours by Pool Manager, Dougie Harvey (Ava's dad)Thanks Dougie!

Lots of money was collected on the day - but if you have not yet handed in your sponsor money - please hand it in to the coaches ASAP - so that we can announce the final total raised.

On Saturday 12th June, after an extremely early morning start, the CETC competitors set off from Edinburgh at 4am on the bus bound for Liverpool!!! Needless to say, several took the chance to catch up on some lost sleep on the bus, before arriving for the start of the competition at 9am, at Liverpool’s Greenbank Sports Academy.

The DMT competition was first up, with Lauren Millar, Kirsteen Bowie, Kirsty Beaton, Daisy Forbes, Taylor Ross & Kayleigh Jeffrey all set to take part in the Nat C 15+ Ladies competition. Next to go were the junior girls in the Nat C under 15 level – Laurie Doonan, Sammy Forbes, Courtney Ross, Laura Milne & Ciara Donlevy.
The girls’ results on the day were a little disappointing, possibly due to the early start/long bus journey, with Lauren Millar gaining the highest CETC score and finishing 17th place in the ladies group.
Laurie Doonan finished with CETC highest placing in the junior group, taking 26th place. As always, the competition at British events is fierce, and all of our competitors can be very proud of the performances they gave on the day.

The junior CETC boys,Aaron Yule and Callum Connarty, both did really well, with Callum giving a brilliant performance in his first ever British competition, by qualifying for the finals, and taking 3rd place overall. Aaron also gave an excellent performance - qualifying for the finals, and taking 6th place overall. Well done boys!!!!! Commiserations to Senior level boy, Danny Lee, who was unable to compete due to an ankle injury.

Whilst the boys were performing, Lauren Millar & Kayleigh Jeffrey competed their Synchro routines, lying in 13th place after the first round – but unfortunately after an error - resulting in an incomplete 2nd routine – they were relegated to a disappointing 16th place.

An exhausted CETC group endured the long return bus journey, arriving in Edinburgh at 9pm.
Well done to everyone who took part, particularly the juniors, who demonstrated great sportsmanship, confidence & maturity in their performances. The DMT team are already progressing towards to what looks to be a very strong 2010/2011 season for DMT at CETC.

Congratulations to the 6 CETC competitors who have qualified for the British DMT Championships 2010, which will take place in Birmingham in July.

The hottest weekend of the year started on Friday 21st May, with 3 CETC competitors Kayleigh Jeffrey, Lauren Millar, Kirsty Beaton, and coach Lauren Jeffrey, boarding the plane at Turnhouse, bound for Birmingham.
Early on the Saturday morning, Lauren Millar took part in the first competition of the day, which was Nat C O19 Ladies trampoline. Lauren did really well, finishing in 23rd place, with a score of 49.5 and a tariff of 6.6 an impressive result for only her second competition on the British circuit. Later in the day, the girls were joined by Aaron Yule and dad George, who had travelled down by train. After a glorious Saturday evening dining al fresco in the unexpected tropical heat, it was early to bed for a 7am start on the Sunday.

Sunday was DMT day with very stiff competition from the other British participants. The CETC competitors performed brilliantly despite the soaring temperatures (especially inside the sports arena.) Kirstys results were fantastic this was her first BG competition and despite her nerves - performed well. Kayleigh & Lauren M. had already previously qualified for the British DMT Nationals, and did exceptionally well again, with Kayleigh narrowly missing a place in the competition finals. Aaron did not disappoint with his brilliant performance which resulted in him securing a place in the finals and taking 3rd place overall in the competition. (The results of the DMT competition can be found under Competition Results)

Later in the day - with temperatures continuing to rise (and exhaustion setting in!) it was time for the Senior Ladies Synchro Competition. Lauren M. & Kayleigh had partnered for this event, and were running a respectable 14th place after the first set. However, a small error in the second set resulted in 19th place overall but considering the competition from FIG A & B GB Squad & Olympic competitors they passed off a very commendable performance.

A very hot, exhausted group from CETC arrived back in Edinburgh at around 9.30pm on the Sunday evening having all done the Club proud. Well done guys!!! (with thanks to Kayleigh for this article)

The 2010 CETC Schools Championships took place on Saturday (8th May) at Lasswade High School Centre, Midlothian.

102 entries were received for this competition, with nursery, primary, secondary schools & universities/colleges represented from Edinburgh & the surrounding area, and as far away as South Lanarkshire, the Borders & Queensferry.
All competitors received a certificate, with 1st, 2nd & 3rd places in each group were presented with medals. The gold medal winner from each age group was invited to compete in a Finals Competition for each Level with 1st, 2nd & 3rd places awarded boxed medals.

The overall winning school was LIBERTON HIGH SCHOOL, followed in second place by Lasswade Primary School, with Firhill High School taking third place.

CETC would be unable to host these events without the help of coaches, parents & volunteers who are always willing to help out on the day, and funds were raised for the Club from the ‘tuck shop’ & Tombolla stalls, and from competition programme sales.
A huge ‘THANK YOU' to everyone who helped out - from the Registration Desk (a difficult job, as everyone seems to arrive at once!) Tombola & Tuck Shop helpers, coaches, judges & officials, manual & computer recorders, photographers – and of course, the fantastic competitors themselves, without whom, there would be no competition!

Further thanks must go to Lauren Jeffrey (Head Coach) who organised the competition prior to the event, but was unable to be there on the day (due to her attendance on a SG training course)
and of course, to Kayleigh Jeffrey, who did an excellent job of running the competition, making sure that everything ran smoothly throughout the day.

The Saturday afternoon was CETC’s debut on the British Synchro stage, with Kayleigh Jeffrey & Lauren Millar representing the Club in the Senior Ladies Category. The pair finished 25th and are looking forward to training for the next event in Birmingham at the end of May.

CETC held a Sponsored Bounce for Club members at Lasswade Sports Centre on Tuesday 8th April 2008 from 7pm-9pm.
Members completed 5011 somersaults in 2 hours, which was an excellent result! The money raised will pay for new Club training kit.
The fundraising event was open to all Club members from both the Crags and Lasswade venues and we would like to thank all our volunteers & organisers who gave up their time on the night to help out.
