Bulldogs Win on Opening Day

The NJ Bulldogs opened their season in the Hudson Valley Wood Bat League on a day more suited for a day at the beach instead of a day on a ballfield. With temperatures reaching almost 100 degrees, the 'Dogs went out and beat the Stony Point Mustangs by a score of 10-3 in a 9 inning game. Because the teams opted to play 1 nine inning game instead of a double header, the victory earns the Bulldogs 2 wins on the schedule. Mike Gordon was the starting pitcher and pitched 6 innings of shutout baseball, giving up only 2 hits while striking out 3. James Schwerdtman came on to pitch the final three innings, and while he started out a little shakey, he settled down to secure the victory for the 'Dogs. The team banged out 7 hits in the game, with Anthony Pasquinucci and Bobby Spindler each going 2 for 4 with a double and a single. Schwerdtman drove in 3 RBI's for the day, with his single in the 2nd inning bringing in 2. Tommy Vogel and Bobby Kistner each added singles as well.
