MNBA is pleased to announce that there is a 2014 National Championship Team in Mississauga.

The Mississauga North Major Bantam (15U) Boys Baseball team, yesterday evening, won the National Championship in a Gold Medal game played against Team New Brunswick in an 8 to 5 final game played at Vaughan Grove – in Vaughan Ontario starting at 6:30pm on Sunday, August 24, 2014.

This team is coached by Dwain Ervin.

This teams journey started with winning the Ontario Bantam Eliminations on Tuesday, August 5, 2014.  It took 8 games in the double elimination format Baseball Ontario Tournament for the Mississauga North Tigers to finally beat the Etobicoke Rangers and win the privilege of being Team Ontario and having a spot at the Baseball Canada National Championship for 15U Boys.

Before the MNBA Tigers won the 2014 Elimination tournament, it had been 12 years since a team from Mississauga had won the Major Bantam Ontario Eliminations to become Team Ontario at this age level.

This past weekend saw Team Ontario (Mississauga North Baseball Association Major Bantam Tigers) begin their weekend at the National Championship Tournament on Thursday (August 21, 2014) with a 9 – 0 win over Team British Columbia.

On Friday (August 22, 2014) Team Ontario suffered their only loss of the tournament to the host team Vaughan Vikings in a 10 to 3 shocker for Team Ontario.

On Saturday (August 23, 2014) Team Ontario bounced back with an early morning 7 to 2 victory against Team Quebec and later in the evening a 15 to 5 runaway win against Team Alberta.

On Sunday (August 24, 2014) Team Ontario had a solid second win against Team British Columbia in a 6 to 2 semi-final victory to advance them to the Gold Medal game.

Mississauga North Baseball Association would like to congratulate Dwain and the entire team on their amazing victory and bringing the 15U Boys National Championship back to Mississauga.
