Information & Resources for Volunteers

Why Should I Become a Volunteer?

Little League simply could not exist without volunteers. Western Little League strives to build good citizens with the support from individuals that devote themselves for the well being of each player. We are always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support and coordinate events and activities.

In order to hold an official position at the league, all Board Members, Managers, Coaches and Team Moms shall have a volunteer form on file, along with a copy of your drivers license. Each Little League program MUST run a background check on any individual that wishes to help in any form.

Who Can Volunteer?
Anyone can apply to be a volunteer as long as they are 18 years or older. Whatever talents or skills you have, we can use them. Western Little League has had volunteers that are grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, former Little Leaguers, friends, neighbors and so on. Any community member who wishes to become a volunteer may apply.

Parents of children involved in Little League baseball are strongly encouraged to volunteer. As a parent-volunteer, you have the opportunity to spend quality time with your child in a safe, fun-filled environment. Often times, parent and child social lives parallel each other. Volunteering allows your life and your child's life to intersect on common ground, with shared interests and goals.

On rare occasions, Western Little League may deny individuals the privilege of volunteering for reasons, past or present, that may be detrimental to the positive development of young people, other volunteers, and/or Little League International. When you apply to become a volunteer, you give Western Little League the right to conduct necessary background checks.

How Do I Become a Volunteer?
You may complete the volunteer form and turn it in at one of our registration dates or to a League Official. A copy of your drivers license and $10 is due at the same time. The fee covers the background checks and badging. When you volunteer, it is good for the fiscal year. You MUST submit a new form each calendar year that you wish to volunteer.

What Can I Volunteer To Do?

No experience is required to become a volunteer. Most of the volunteer opportunities require little or no training. We will provide you with any necessary training, as well as support and encouragement, as we deem necessary. The best volunteers are those who are able to bring added enjoyment to the game simply by being themselves. What you see during Little League games is a mere fraction of what you can do as a volunteer. You can volunteer to help in any aspect of Little League baseball. Volunteers are often needed at some of these functions; Evaluations, Opening Day festivities, snack stand, Pitch-Hit-Run competition, tournaments, score keeping, announcing and All-Stars.

WE CAN'T EXIST WITHOUT VOLUNTEERS
