Coaches & League Administrators:

We hope that you, your families, and teams healthy and safe.  In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic I wanted to share this important update with you. The initial stay at home orders hit just as we were completing our tournament team tryouts, so we know the type of curve ball this has thrown to everyone!
After reviewing our calendar, operations, considering all alternatives, and monitoring the fluidity of the situation, we have made the difficult, but necessary decision to cancel our Roxborough Rumble tournament June 11 - 14, 2020. We know this news is disappointing, but the health and safety of all players, coaches, umpires, and families is our priority.  Like many of you, we remain cautiously optimistic that we can fulfill an abbreviated or delayed rec season for our local league (hopefully starting in June), and we are hopeful that our tournament teams can hit the trail in late June or July.  We considered many alternatives, including delaying this tournament to later in the summer, but given a number factors, canceling was ultimately the right approach for our organization at this time.  We also felt important to give you enough time to seek alternative tournament opportunities in June.
If your team has already submitted your payment to us, we will kindly offer you the choice of:
  • Full refund
  • Credit for our 2021 tournament
We appreciate your continued support of our tournament each season, as we enjoy having you at our complex each year.  The 21st Ward Jr. League looks forward to hosting you for another fun and competitive tournament in Roxborough in June 2021.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. We wish you all good health, continued safety, and success with wherever your baseball path takes you over the course of the coming weeks and months. We will be in touch with each team individually to discuss refund/credit for your organization.

3 Games Guaranteed

The format will be dependent on the number of teams at each age level.

11u will play 50/70 format with leads, steals and balks (as described in the Tournament Rules)

8u through 10u will play 46/60

8u will play with a maximum run rule per inning through the first five innings with unlimited runs in the 6th inning.  This format is meant to keep the game moving and preserve pitching.

Pool Play Format:

Generally, the format will be pool play.  At the end of Pool Play, teams will be seeded.

For age levels with greater than five (5) teams (maximum of 8 teams),  two (2) divisions will be created,  a championship bracket and consolation bracket.

·       Championship Bracket (Seeds 1 through 4) ( two Games to win Championship)

o   1 vs. 4 & 2 vs. 3

o   Winner plays for Championship (1st and 2nd place awards to players)

·       Consolation Bracket (Seeds 5 through 8)

o   single consolation game - 5 vs. 6 and 7 vs. 8 format

This structure is meant to:

·       keep top seeded teams playing against each other

·       avoid a 1 vs. 8 type of lopsided games

·       keep pitchers from being overworked (max 2 games on Championship day)

For Age Levels with four (4) or less teams:

·       Highest vs. lowest seed format

·       Odd number of teams – highest seed gets bye
