USA SOFTBALL RULES

THERE IS NO DRINKING OF ALCOHOL ALLOWED ON TOWN PROPERTY.

THERE WILL BE NO SMOKING ON THE PLAYING FIELD.

Game times are 7:15 & 8:30 PM.

 9 PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO START THE GAME

There is a 10-minute grace time before a forfeit is declared
This will be strictly enforced.

 To be eligible for playoffs, a player must have played in at least seven of the teams scheduled games.

Each team will be responsible to keep the official league Book.

Please note the following Pawling Recreation Rule Amendments:

1. There will be two courtesy runners allowed per game. If a runner is needed DUE TO INJURY, it will be solely at the discretion of the UMPIRE.   Last out will be the runner.

2. A team can bat an unlimited number of players

3. EH can enter and play the field.

4. REENTRY: A starting player can re-enter once in the same batting position, a substitute cannot.

5. The strike zone is 6 to 12 feet from the ground. Umpires will call illegal pitches in the air.

6. No player is allowed to play for more than one team.

7. Use of an illegal player will result in a forfeit and 1-game suspension for the player and or manager.

8. An injured player must be present and added to the end of the scorecard by the umpire to have the game count towards the playoffs. He need not participate in the game.

9. A player may hit either bag when rounding first base.

10. A player must hit the orange safety base on infield groundballs. If he does not this is an appeal play. THE APPEAL MUST BE MADE BEFORE THE RUNNER RETURNS TO THE BAG.

  
11. 4 home run limit per team per game.

12. Mercy rule - If a team is winning by 12 runs or more after the losing team has batted at least five times.  

13. Either sneakers or any approved shoe will be permitted. No metal spikes.

Teams should conduct themselves in a sportsman like manner at all times. Pawling recreation reserves the right to exclude any player that does not conduct himself in a manner befitting the high standards of Pawling Recreation.
Abusive language directed at the officials or other players will not be tolerated and will result in expulsion from the game. If a player is ejected from a game and asked to leave the Park he will be suspended for the next game. If a player is ejected a second time he will be suspended for at least 2-games. If a player is ejected a 3rd time they are out of the league and the Recreation Director Reserves the Right to suspend that individual for as long as necessary.

ANY INDIVIDUAL IN ANY WAY TOUCHING AN OFFICIAL WILL RESULT IN AUTOMATIC EJECTION FROM THE GAME, THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON AND THE PLAYOFFS. THEY MAY ALSO FACE CIVIL AND CRIMINAL CHARGES.

THERE ARE RECEPTACLES LOCATED NEXT TO EACH BENCH AND NEXT TO THE STANDS. USE THEM...............

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE EMPTY GATORADES, WATERS, ETC .... ON THE BENCHES OR GROUND.
REGARDING THE PRIVILEGE OF STAYING IN THE PARKING LOT TO RELAX AFTER YOUR GAME.....KEEP IT CLEAN! PLEASE TAKE YOUR EMPTY CONTAINERS HOME!!!
