The York Diamonds have finalized an affiliation with the York Baseball Association. This will allow the team to enter the OBA Provincial Championships and also provide a potential home for graduating York Midget players.

York Baseball has been offering house league t-ball to 18U baseball in Toronto's former City of York since 1961. They are the home of the select York RiverDogs and the rep York Jays.

Current Diamonds players that played for the York Pioneers in their youth baseball days include:

Eric Foley
Rich Freeman
Paul Freeman
Andrew Greig
Sydney Saunders
Fil Vazzano

The Diamonds are looking forward to this new partnership.

The York Diamonds are getting ready for the 2024 campaign.

Newcomers include: Mitch Busch (P), Mike Didier (P), Varun Krishnammaggaru (IF), Jamie Hatfield (IF/P - returning after 1 year off), Adamo Tucci (C), Anthony Alfino (IF), Kieran Teramoto (IF), Mike Lee (OF)

The team will clearly miss the dominant pitching of Martin Rodriguez, but the newcomers along with returnees Eric Foley, Kevin Horton, and Jesse Dinsmore should form a solid staff.

Oz Alvarez continues to be a power threat at the plate. The returning Jamie Hatfield as well as expected increases in attendance from Kevin Horton, Steve Correia, and Ryan Freeman should bolster the offense.  A number of other veterans will contribute to a well-rounded lineup.

Defensively, Mark Pereira continues to provide all-star level ability behind the plate.

York is looking to enter the OBA Provincial Championships for the first time in the team's history.

A number of players have hitting milestones that are within reach, including:

  • Steve Correia needs 7 hits to reach 200 as a Diamond
  • Eric Foley needs 19 games to reach 750
  • Eric Foley needs 8 runs to reach 500
  • Andrew Greig needs 7 hits to reach 100
  • Mark Pereira needs 12 RBI to reach 100
  • Manny Rodriguez needs 7 RBI to reach 150
  • Rich Freeman needs 9 runs to reach 250
  • Paul Freeman needs 2 RBI to reach 250
