Frosties settle for a split at Baldwin versus the Cougars

July 9, 2009
The Frosty bats are beginning to awaken from their slumber.  Two hard fought games led to a split at Baldwin Park versus the Cougars last night.  The Frosties dropped game one 32-26 and took game two 21-11.

Game one saw a back-from-the-dead comeback by the Frosties snuffed in the top of the 7th by the Cougars.  Dwon 18-3 going into the bottom of the fourth and facing a run rule, the Frosties put up 12 of their own to keep the game alive.  The Frosties later took the lead in the bottom of the 6th with a 9-spot, putting them up by 6 heading into the 7th.  The Cougars exploded for 13 runs in their half of the 7th, putting the Frosties away, and the Frosty bats only managed one in the bottom of the frame.

Game two had the Frosties in control nearly the entire time.  The Frosties threatened run-rule each inning until the game just ran out of innings, with the Frosties taking it 21-11.  The CCD has now extended his winning streak to two games shaking off his Ollie Perez moment in the 5th inning last night.

Big night by Lou "the Natural" Ohle, who didn't record an out and is now batting near .800 on the season.  Big Pete put up big numbers in the boxscore.  Anthony "Boom Boom" Bruno was absolutely on fire spraying balls everywhere and hitting two bombs.  James "Beans" Bienick also had his share of big blasts knocking out a couple.  Chris "PBJ" Catania played excellent right field defense (except for the one phantom catch late in game 2).  Coach Freddo overran two bags on the day.

The Frosties will be playing in a tournament this weekend in Huntington.  Expect many spousal punishments after this one.  For those that will not be there, we will be playing our next game Wednesday against the 495ers.  Be there!
