Assalamu-ailaikum!
By the Grace of Allah we held our first preseason game of the Ahmadiyya Ottawa Basketball League - Alhumdolillah! We had two amazing action-packed games with the excitement brewing since Fajr namaz. It is requested that all players make an effort to attend the Fajr prayer at 6:30 am which is the primary purpose of coming to the mosque.
JazakAllah to all the scorekeepers, refs and everyone who helped make the games today successful and kept it friendly.
Check out all the tabs on the left for the updated new look and record of the statistics - including standings, statistics, league leaders, a message board for posting, pictures of the evaluations last week and much more!
GAME #1 - Team Sadaqat (W) vs Team Amanat (L)
Team Sadaqat won with a strong performance by all their players shooting over 40% and keeping Team Amanat to only 24 points with some Bostin Celtic defence. Musaver Ahmed led Team Sadaqat with 16 points while Abdul Qudoos Chaudhry gave a bit of everything with a team-high 5 assists. Luqman Dawood proved to be the X-factor for that team and also showed prowess with a team-high 12 rebounds. Unfortunately, Team Amanat only shot 23% and and were bogged down by the lack of stamina. Highlights of a potent offensive weapon in Muneer Khan were quite visible but they will have to make some adjustments if they want to stay competitive in this league.
GAME #2 - Team Rafaqat (W) vs Team Shujaat (L)
Congratulations to Team Rafaqat with an overall well played all-around team performance with Fawad Khan leading the team in points, assists, and steals. Saib Ahmed showed up as the X-factor with a game high and outstanding 20 rebounds giving Team Rafaqat plenty of shot opportunities despite the poor overall team shooting of 38%. It seems as though they are missing Fateeh Malik''s outside sharp-shooting and will have to make some minor adjustments and create better shot selection in the future. Team Shujaat was feared to be the aggressive and potentially best team and showed glimpses of their true potential despite taking the loss. Even with Qaid sahib''s 11 points, 8 rebound performance, Faraz Faisal''s 57% shooting and Shakeel''s deadly hookshot, Team Shujaat came up short after being out-rebounded 33-19.
A special mention to Ehtsham Arif with a solid 10 point performance giving a boost to Amanat's offensive!
