Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who can play for BCF ?

  • Any rising 6th-8th grader in the Bearden zone OR Knox Co. While our main focus is developing players for BHS ultimately we can accept anyone who is looking for the best middle school age program in Knoxville. However, we are limited to (6) total "zoning waivers" as a member of the MAC. So that is only (2) kids per grade level out of zone.  Our goal is to provide all parents and players with the most well structured football environment in Knox Co.

  • When is the registration deadline and how do we register ?
    • June 1, 2023 is our official deadline to place our equipment order and ensure it is here in time for practice to start. We can accept players until June 20th, but keep in mind there may be a delay in those players receiving equipment prior to practice or the season beginning so we encourage everyone to register as soon as possible.
    • All registration and payments are done on this site.

  • What are the fees and what do they cover?

Fees for the season are $285. They will cover all uniforms and practice gear (including Girdle).

Parents / players must purchase cleats. ALL fees are non refundable after Aug 3rd.

  • Why the new format?

Our research and experience has shown that the most successful programs in the area and surrounding counties have gone to a more traditional middle school format. 93 of 95 counties in the state of Tennessee play Middle School football. Our focus is on player development so having this format allows us to ensure athletes play their natural athletic positions instead of playing a position because the team doesn't have enough players for that position.

    • At the "VARSITY" level all players (6th-8th) are eligible to play however, we have the same (6) quarter max rule as TSSAA. This game is the one where we will focus more on "competition".
    • The "J.V." team/game was created to ensure we can allow all kids the opportunity to play. This game will be limited to (6th-7th) grades only. The focus of this game is strictly playing time and player development.
    •  All kids will have the same coaches and follow the same practice structure during the week and on game day. This structure allows us to develop as many players as possible while keeping everyone on the same team.

How it Works:

We have 10 practices in the spring  -usually starting in April - see the calendar for dates

There is a Dead period the last week of June/first week of July (great time to go on vacation)

Starting the 2nd week of July, we practice Monday - Thursday (see the calendar on this site for times)

During the season we practice Mondays - Wednesdays and we play on Thursdays - fall schedule may not be released until July or August

The "JV" game will kickoff at 615 pm

the "Varsity" game will follow at 730 pm.

Just like the freshman and j.v do at the high school level.

  • What about playing time and roster size ?

The coaching staff will evaluate players and place them where they are best able to get the maximum amount of playing time based on their skill set and maturity. Some 6th-7th graders will be the starters on the "JV" team...while others may start on the "Varsity" team. Some will split time between the two. 8th graders are only eligible to play in "Varsity" games

  • We have registered and paid now what?

Visit the calendar for practice dates - April 17th is the date to pick up equipment and practice starts on April 18, 2023
