Wachusett Shuts Out Bombers 3-0

Westfield had all it could handle with the #3 ranked D3 team in Massachusetts paying a visit at Amelia Park in front of a big crowd helping the Bombers celebrate Senior Night.  The final score was 3-0.  The Mountaineers were steady throughout the contest while the Bombers showed at times that they could handle the stiffer competition.  They just weren't as consistent as Wachusett.

The Bombers couldn't put the puck in the net in this one despite a number of chances.  Scotty Bussell and Aidan Fitzgerald missed the net on breakaways.  Westfield also had several chances off of faceoff wins by Matt Bacon and Ryan Moorhouse to tickle the twine, but the Wachusett netminder was up to the task.  Joe Taupier provided some spark centering the third line.  On defense, Connor Fitzgerald was again a physical force taking the body nicely throughout the game.

It was a solid game for Senior Goalie Ryan Bacon who started in goal and ended up with 13 saves.  C.J. Czarnecki came in for the 3rd period and made 8 saves (9 shots). Westfield wound up with 23 shots on net.

NOTES: Fellow Seniors Spencer Cloutier, Liam Webster, Danny Antonellis, and Scotty Bussell were introduced before the game in a very nice ceremony where families were invited on the ice with their Seniors.  Bo Sullivan was on board as MC of the proceedings, and Julia Bussell did a terrific job with the National Anthem.  Congratulations and thank you go out to our Bomber Seniors!
