Results from Saturday, June 8:

 

In game 1, Gally's opened with 8 runs in the 1st inning, but Lia came back with 8 of their own.  Lia took the lead after 2 and never relinquished it with some timely hitting.and good fielding.  Winning pitcher Joe Salo.  Losing pitcher Mike McGlynn.  Final score of 19-14.

 

In game 2, American Legion came out on top of Action Transportation, 20 - 4 for their 1st win of the season.  Winning Pitcher Kim Burns.  Losing pitcher Art Wise.

 

Results from Sunday, June 9:

 

In the most exciting game of the year, Gally's hung a loss on ROMO'S PIZZA 8 - 5.  This was a come from behind win for Gally's and ROMO'S first loss.  Winning Pitcher Rusty Gallagher.  Losing pitcher Bill Kosefsky, his first loss going way back to the regular season last year.  At least 6 wins in a row prior to this loss.

 

 

Play of the Day:  Without a doubt, this was one of the finest fielding weekends, as there were numerous great plays.  POD goes to Ian Duckor for his long running, sliding catch at the right field line.  Umpire Dan Marino commented it was the greatest catch he had ever seen in all his umpiring days.  Honorable mention goes to several players:  Gary Onderdonk for his over the shoulder catch from 2nd base position running into right field.  Mark Slusar for his running catch in SF from second base.  Carolyn Callner for her neat pickup of a hard ground ball to her right, then spinning around to throw out the runner at 2nd.  Jeff Prescott for gunning down a runner at the plate, with the help of a nifty pick from Mike McGlynn.  Rick Wall for 2 fine plays at 1B.  Plus Joe Salo for his catch a hot line drive right back at him at the mound.  And several other line shots caught as well.

For Lia, Andy Rakowsky and Kevin Washock led the way, each going 4-4, and each with a double and 3 RBI's.  John Giarrusso was 3-4, with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's.    Brian Collins was 3 - 4 with 3 RBI's.  Mark Roy was 2-4, with a double.  Greg Ira was 2-4 with a double.  Mike Connelly contributed 2 RBI's.  Joe Salo contributed a double.

 

For Gally's, Ken Shaw was 3-4 with a double.  Steve Hughes was 2-3, with a double.  Rick Wall was 2-4 and 2 RBI's.  Carolyn Falconer was 2-4.  Jeff Prescott was 2-5.  George Korchowsky and Daphane Pearson each had 2 RBI's.  Rick Knipper contributed a double.

 

For Legion, Bert Cromling was 4-4 with 2 RBI's.  Ian Duckor was also 4-4 and 2 RBI's.  Jim Schwab was 3-4 with 2 RBI's.  Kim Burns was 3-4 with 2 RBI's.  Josh Gelber was 3-4, with a double and 2 RBI's.  Ralph Scunziano was 2 - 4 with a double and 2 RBI's.  Mike Holub was 2-4 with 2 RBI's.  Tim Cronin had a double.  Karen Dunn had 2 RBI's.
