NEW MUNICH--For the 2nd consecutive season and 8th in franchise history, the Elrosa Saints have clinched a berth in the state amateur tournament. The Saints pounded out 17 hits on their way to a big win over Richmond to earn the #4 seed before losing to Regal 4-3 in a state seeding game. Elrosa added New Munich draftees Jim Thull and Nick Stangler for the state tournament. 

The Saints will play Sunday August 20th @ 2:30 p.m. in Hamburg against Pelican Rapids. Fan bus information is available from Matt "Gumby" Bauer. Below is the link to the state brackets.

Elrosa 17, Richmond 5

NEW MUNICH--The Saints broke open a close game with 9 runs in the 9th inning to seal the victory. Ethan Vogt pitched six innings and struck out nine to pick up the win while Aaron Vogt threw the final three frames and struck out five to pick up the 3 inning save. Austen Hadley belted two doubles and two home runs to pace the Saints offensively. James Kuefler, who was somehow left off the All-Star game roster, belted another home run to go along with with two other hits and a walk to finish perfect at the plate. Matt Schmitz contributed three hits while Matt Middendorf knocked out four hits for the orange and navy. Cody Eichers put his new bat to good use and drove two solid singles while AJ Hadley knocked in two runs with an RBI single to go along with two walks. 


Elrosa 3, Regal 4

NEW MUNICH--The Kuefler brothers did all they could to keep the Saints alive but it wasn't enough as the Eagles edged the Saints Sunday afternoon. James ripped two more hits including a monster home run and Kevin drove in two runs with a clutch two out single in the 4th inning. Austin Imdieke started on the mound for Elrosa and pitched around nine hits in 4 1/3 innings while striking out one. Austen Hadley threw the remainder allowing four hits and striking out five. The Saints struggled at the plate as they struck out 15 times and left 5 runners on base. Cody Eichers belted another single for the Saints final hit.
