Frosties pull off four wins in one night - finishing strong for playoff run

July 16, 2009
Following a 4-0 run in Saturday's tournament producing the new Frosty parking lot monument, the Frosties had another 4-win day by picking up two wins versus the 495ers via forfeit and then taking two from Pipe at Mitchel by scores of 14-2 and 11-8.

A short Frosty squad welcomed back hall-of-famer Lou Puleo to man the shortstop spot after the panic button was pressed with the idea of some Frosty outfielders playing infield.  Facing the best "first-time-he's-ever-pitched" Pipe pitcher the Frosties have ever seen, the offense continuing to steadily put up runs inning by inning, eventually picking up the run rule in 5 innings by a score of 14-2.  A Google Earth bomb by the CCD and a grand slam by Brian "Casino" Goerke led the offense.

Game two saw almost a first in Frosty history.  As the Frosties put up a couple runs each inning, Pipe was going down 1-2-3 in their half.  With the CCD flirting with a perfect game and the Frosties in a spot to run-rule in the bottom of the 4th and 5th innings, the offense unfortunately fell short.  Pipe finally broke up the perfect game in the top of the 6th where the Frosty gloves decided to give Pipe a few runs, however the Frosties eventually won the game 11-8.  Joe "Moose" Musalo and Coach Freddo hit bombs to shore up the Frosty offense.

The Frosties finish up their regular season next week versus the Cougars at Mitchel on Wednesday.  An outside shot for first place still exists.  Stay tuned!
