Eighth Grade Jaguars Win Slinger Tournament!
The eighth grade Germantown Jaguars won the Slinger tournament the weekend of June 13th and 14th, their second tournament win in two weeks. The boys beat Wauwatosa West 5-3 and the Slinger Owls 4-3 (in eight innings) to get to the championship game. They then beat the Waukesha Blazers Force 11-0 in the championship game.
In the first game, Adam Butler came in to a high pressure situation with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the last inning and struck out the only hitter he faced on three pitches to preserve the 5-3 victory. Luke Taylor had a huge two run single with two outs in the top half of the last inning to put the Jaguars ahead for good.
In the second game, Caleb Grossmann came in to a high pressure situation with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and did a great job to keep things in check so that the Jaguars were able to pull off the 4-3 victory in the eight inning of the second game. Several times he was within one ball of walking in the winning run for Slinger, but he came back and got the job done.
In the championship game, Trevor Larsen got the Jaguars off to a good start by pitching three innings of shutout ball. Luke Taylor hit his first over-the-fence home run in the championship game.
