M’s top Kings 9-4 to Win Second in a Row

June 10, 2015

Fargo, North Dakota – On a balmy Wednesday evening at Helling Field, the Jamestown Merchants defeated the Kindred Kings 9-4 to improve to 2-5 on the year.

“It was nice to see the bats keep going today, we had struggled early on this year hitting, but after putting up 12 runs on Sunday we followed it up with 9 more tonight.  I'm glad someone could finally give me some run support.  It gets tiring carrying this team all by myself as I was pretty much on tonight," stated starting pitcher Brandon Baumgartner.

The Merchants jumped on the Kings early, scoring runs in each of the first 5 innings, highlighted by Brady Anderson’s first home run of the year. Baumy provided them with a solid outing exiting after five innings with an 8-3 lead.

Zach Hayes and Andrew Favaro each debuted for the M’s and combined to throw 3 scoreless innings of relief.

Both offenses pounded out 11 hits but it was Jamestown who came through in the clutch. Jared Purdy, Dan Ross and Anthony Fontana each collected two hits and drove in multiple runs for the M’s who are looking to turn it around after a slow start.

These two teams will meet again in Kindred this Wednesday, June 17, 2015. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
