Merchants Bounce Back with Big Win Over the FM Mets

July 12, 2017

Fargo, ND – After a 2-1 record and another second place finish over the weekend, this time at the "Gopher" Memorial tournament in Jamestown, the Miller Lite Merchants got back in the win column Wednesday at No Name Field with a 12-0 beat down of the FM Mets.

The Merchant scoring was highlighted by a six-run third inning that was capped off by a two-out bases clearing single by “Doppler” Dan Ross.

Jamestown Merchant starter Brandon Baumgartner was sharp on the mound after almost a month off. Baumgartner fired six innings of one-hit baseball to pick up his fourth win of the summer.

After the Merchants scored two more in the fourth, they tacked on four in the top of the seventh to make the score 12-0. Ross pitched the seventh for the M’s and shut the door to end the game via the ten-run rule.

The Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants will host the Valley City Saints this Sunday at Jack Brown Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 PM. The first five fans in attendance will get a leftover can koozie from this weekend’s Hirchert wedding.
