We want to keep her legacy going for the residents of Orchard Gardens Housing Development and the Roxbury area. Young people in this area have relied upon the opportunities and resources offered by this organization which  helps them to succeed in school, learn critical life skills, prepare for adulthood, and perhaps most importantly, have a safe, fun, and affordable place to spend their out-of-school hours.

·        The mission of The Edna V. Bynoe Educational & Recreation Academy is to help boys and girls, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, develop the qualities needed to become responsible adults..

The Edna Bynoe Educational Recreation Academy model takes a comprehensive approach and promotes intellectual, social, emotional, moral and physical well-being..  The programs are designed to focus on three core program areas  Education; Leadership & Character Development; Life Skills; Sports, Recreation & Fitness.

Our programs are designed to be fun and enriching while helping youth to build the skills and knowledge they need to make a positive transition into adulthood equipped for success.  Communities in great need of affordable youth programs and services and our membership demographics are representative of the predominantly low-income neighborhoods of color which we serves
