Why Arlington Martin won: Haley Riley converted a penalty kick (her 19th goal of the season) with 3:57 left in regulation, and that was enough for the 1-0 win in Friday’s Class 6A Region I semifinal in Midland.

Key players: Martin’s Haley Ober was taken down inside the box by a Plano defender to give the Warriors the penalty kick. Six minutes earlier, Martin goalkeeper Madeline Wasden had punched a Plano shot over the top of the goal. The senior had 13 saves and recorded her 14th shutout and 20th win of the season. Key stats: The Warriors advance to their first regional final since 1998’s state championship team. They face Flower Mound at noon Saturday in Midland. Records: Martin 22-3-1, Plano 12-6-4
