** How to make best use of this website **

We are excited to introduce the Ohio Jays website, located at www.ohiojays.com.

The intent of the website is to provide you with a single location on the web for the latest information about both Ohio Jays teams.  Allow me to give you a brief virtual tour:

1)  WELCOME PAGE   www.ohiojays.com    On the left you'll see links to the other portions of the website.  On the right, under the countdown ticker, is a list of headlines for critical or most recently updated items.

2)  CALENDAR -- Probably the most useful page for you will be the calendar page, which shows current schedule information for both teams.  As we've already discovered, with two teams there is the possibility of confusion regarding which team is playing where.   Each calendar entry is labeled either Jays North or Jays South;  please double check to ensure that you are viewing an event for your team!     Link is:    http://bit.ly/Zla7Qv

3)  SCHEDULE AND DIRECTIONS -- Similar to the calendar above, but this also contains links to directions and tournament info.  Clicking on the "venue" item under this menu will show the most current information we have regarding field locations or tournament games.    Link:    http://bit.ly/18H8Poi    Currently, I have loaded schedule information for both teams through June 16;  I'll be adding more as time permits (I'll try to stay at least a week ahead) and I will periodically be updating calendar items as new information (like tournament schedules) comes in.

4)  LINKS -- I'll have links here to the Jays schedule page from both of our leagues and each of our tournaments.  While I will attempt to keep our website as accurate and current as possible, these links will take you right to the source.  In the case of league games, the league schedule sheet is the ultimate authority regarding where and when we are playing.  For tournaments, the tournament website contains similar information.   http://bit.ly/13ucdgq

5)  "FOLLOW THE JAYS"  -- Click on the Twitter logo below this heading to be taken to the Jays twitter account, @ohiojays, which the coaches intend to use primarily to convey last minute information to the players.   As with everything on the web site, please make certain that the message you are reading is intended for your team!

The website template that we are using has lots of other features, such as photos and rosters, that I can activate once I load content.  (Keep watching!)   Finally, while we will try to keep the content as accurate and complete as possible, I'll offer the following disclaimers up front:

-- we are only as good as the information given to us.  If you notice any errors, click on the spinning "email" icon and let me know.

-- currently, info sent via the spinning email icon is seen only by me and only when I log into the website.  So, please limit its use to website-related questions and info.  Don't use it to communicate with coaches, Jerry, or anyone else that might need the information immediately.

--  it will be me and a handful of other folks updating this information.  In some cases, I may not be near a wifi location or might otherwise not be able to provide "real-time" information.   This could especially be true for weather cancellations or other last minute information.  (But, then again, you will have already bookmarked the tournament link on your smartphone web browser, so you'll already have the most current information regarding that tournament, right?   :)    )

-- for items that are not time-critical, such as game scores, give me 48 hours or so to update the site with new information.

-- I'm human.  I'll make mistakes!

While I'd, ideally, like to make the site "one-stop shopping" for all your Jays information, you will still need to watch your email for updates from Jerry, me, other parents and your head coaches.   Nonetheless, I feel we are providing you with a tool that should greatly help with communication for both teams and provide you with detailed information that you might not otherwise receive.

I hope you agree!  Check it out, then click that spinning email icon and let me know!
