The Rutherford Junior Bulldogs (10-11 year olds) beat the Lyndhurst Bears 25-0. The Bulldog defense continued their shut out season with dominating the line of scrimmage.  Angelo Pizza caused a Bears fumble that Nick Scalley recovered for the Bulldogs (4-0). Louis Morella, Devin Burgos,Chris Gioia, David Rojas, Jimmy Queli, Antonio DeCarlo and Marchello Fernandez held the Bears to only two first downs for the game. The offensive line, Ryan Hayes, Jailen Magai, Louis Morella, Nick Scalley, paved the way  for quarterback George Brewton. Brewton controlled the game from start to finish with two rushing touchdowns and one by air to Chris Gioia. Laudan Henry again punished the opposing defense for over 100 yards and one rushing touchdown.  The RJF&C Senior squad (12-13 year olds) improved their record to 3-1 with a 33-0 win over the Lyndhurst Golden Bears. The defense set the tone early and established their presence not allowing a first down by the Golden Bears the entire game. Lyndhurst was forced to punt or turned the ball over on every possession. Defensive linemen Chris Lora, Alejandro Garcia, Angel Bido and Arthur Costan penetrated the Lyndhurst offensive line all game. Linebackers Cole Goumas, Luke cerulli, Sal Fernandez and Ryan Ward wreaked havoc making multiple tackles in the backfield. Offensively the Bulldogs started off on their own 20 yard line and Matt Scheibe broke off two runs of 20 and 10 yards respectively. Goumas contributed with multiple runs of his own. QB Van Weber snuck in behind Fernandez for the first touchdown of the night from the one yard line. The offensive line of Lora, Steve Pisciotta, Fernandez, Ernie Bonogura, Garcia, Bido and Ward opened huge lanes for them. Danny Carr loosened up the Golden Bears defense with a 25 yard reception during the next possession allowing Goumas to break free for a long touchdown run on the very next play. Goumas was not done as the next kickoff he recovered the Bulldogs onside kick on the Lyndhurst 35 yard line. Scheibe ran in the next TD and PAT. Costan recovered the next kickoff keeping the offense on the field. The remainder of the game saw much of the same as Jack Daly, Zach Herninko and Yahya Elfeshaw contributed heavily on the defensive side making numerous tackles and keeping the Lyndhurst offense at bay. Goumas and Scheibe each added 50 plus yard TD runs in the second half finishing the game strong. The Rutherford Pee Wees (8-9 year olds) improved their record to 4-0 and sole possession of first place in the Southern division with a 30-0 win over the Bears. The Bulldogs defensive attack was over whelming, holding Lyndhurst to one first down and forcing several turnovers. NG Damien Gregory, DE Quinn Weber and DT Andrew Ochojski created havoc in the Bear backfield, having several tackles for loss. Offensively, the lil Dogs scored on every possession. Matt Bonagura had the first two scores on runs of 40 and 60 yards, all behind blocking of right OG Chase Martini and OT Evan Diaz. Those scores were followed by a Will Holman 15 yard scamper, all in the first quarter. Rutherford then ran a sweep in which Dmitri Paskas went 20 yards for the final first half score. Fullback Emmett Carney took a handoff from Myles Balchan and punched in the final score from 6 yards out. The Bulldog program will travel to an out of division match up with Elmwood Park Saturday at 4:00 pm. For up to date info: www.leaguelineup.com/rjfbulldogs.
