RJF&C Earns Two MFL Super Bowl Bids

The Rutherford Junior Bulldogs (10-11 year olds) continued their playoff run with a convincing win over the Lyndhurst Golden Bears 38-8.  The Bulldogs (9-1) displayed a strong running game with touchdowns by Devin Burgos, Chris Gioia, Laudan Henry and Antonio DeCarlo. The Bulldogs defense, led by Louis Morella and Nick Lora, held the Golden Bears scoreless through three quarters. The defensive line consisting of Burgos, Gioia,  Ryan Hayes, Nick Ford, Angelo Pizza, and Jailen Magai wreaked havoc against the Bears running game and were supported by linebackers Marchello Fernandez, DeCarlo, and defensive backs, Henry, Chris Kasperan, and George Brewton. The Junior Bulldogs are heading to the Super Bowl versus New Milford Knights, next week to conclude their season. The Rutherford Pee Wees (8-9 year olds) played the North Arlington Vikings and came out on top 39-0. The Bulldogs opening drive was capped off by a Dmitri Paskas 15 yard run and extra point. Running back Matt Bonagura had the next two scores, behind the dominant offensive line of E Quinn Weber, T Andrew Ochojski, G Jayden Arlauskas, C Vin Urgola, G Chase Martini, G Kellen Caughey, T Evan Diaz and E Will Holman. Weber caught a ten yard pass from Myles Balchan for another first half score, followed by a Emmett Carney extra point. Balchan closed out the scoring with a 30 yard qb sweep around left end. Defensively, the Bulldogs pitched their tenth shutout of the season. Damian Gregory, Diaz and Ochojski had several tackles in the backfield for losses. Defensive backs Rudy Garofalo and Zach Snyder kept all receivers in check, not allowing a completion. The PW Bulldogs will play Elmwood Park in the Super Bowl Saturday. The Rutherford Seniors (12-13 yr old) playoff run ended with a loss versus the North Arlington Vikings. The Senior squad had a strong season overall and played hard throughout. Eighth graders Angel Bido, Anthony Bonagura, Ernie Bonagura, Danny Carr, Sal Fernandez, Alejandro Garcia, Zach Herninko, Michael Oliveros, Steve Pisciotta and Van Weber will be moving on to the High School ranks.  Seventh graders Arthur Costan, Yahya Elfeshaw, Owen Fernandez, Cole Goumas, Chris Lora, Luke Cerulli, Jack Daly, Matt Scheibe and Ryan Ward will be coming back next year for another promising season.
