The Spokane Valley class of 2019 won’t boast a high volume of college football recruits, but one player that has already announced his commitment is wide receiver Xavier Guillory.

According to 247 Sports, Guillory is the number two overall recruit in the Spokane Valley. He’ll be in Air Force Academy’s camp this upcoming fall.

Guillory was instrumental in turning around the Lewis & Clark Football program. They finished 7-3, which was their best season in over a decade.

This past season Guillory caught over 60 passes for 700+ yards and 14 touchdowns, while also playing shutdown defense.

Cascadia Preps was able to catch up with Xavier Guillory, and get his thoughts on his commitment to Air force Football.

Cascadia Preps: When did you first hear from Air Force?

Xavier Guillory: Around April of last year, and they offered me towards the end of my junior year. Since then a lot of the coaches have been recruiting me hard, which is crazy because I didn’t think my junior film was that good. For them to have faith in me means a lot.

CP: What other colleges were you considering besides Air Force?

XG: When I first got the Air Force and Army offers, I thought to myself, ‘I am not doing this military stuff.,’ because I didn’t know what it was about. So I decided to wait out my senior year and see if I could get a Pac-12 offer. But at the end of the day, I went to the school that showed me the most love.

CP: Was it a goal of yours to serve your country?

XG: All the training I did was never to serve in the military. But now that it’s happening, it’s kind of cool. Yesterday someone came up to me and said, ‘congrats on your commitment and thank you for serving our country.’ That was my first time, and I never thought I’d be in this position.

CP: What are some things that you like about the Air Force Football Program?

XG: The coaching staff and how much they wanted me. The Head coach Troy Calhoun would call me not even to talk about football, just checking in on myself and how my family was doing. They really did a good job of recruiting me. Also I got really close with the players there. Between the academics, military training, and football, we’ll be going through a lot together.

CP: Any worry of playing in a run heavy offense?

XG: Jalen Robinette was a receiver for Air Force, and he got about 10 to 15 targets a game. Lately they haven’t had too many I guess playmakers out there, is what the coaches told me. So they’re looking for a big receiver that can stretch the field. With all the running they do, I anticipate I’ll get a lot of man coverage outside.

CP: What will you study in college?

CP: What would you say is your favorite moment as a Lewis & Clark Tiger?

XG: When we beat Central Valley this season. It was at their home, and it was a back and forth game. We won 41-39, we were stopping em, I had touchdowns. We scored the same amount of touchdowns, but they missed a last second field goal. We hadn’t beaten them in like 10 or 12 years, and we all rushed the field.

CP: Is there any people you’d like to thank that helped you get to this point?

XG: My parents kept me focused on what’s important. Also my sisters, they gave me a reason to keep pushing. I want to help them when they’re older, and make sure they’re all set. FSP and Tracy Ford all helped get my name out there, and all my teammates on the Lewis & Clark football team.
