Update December, 2019 - We were pleased with the Wildcats program in 2018 and plan to offer the program once again in 2019.
Wildcats Softball - New to MGSL in 2018
Wildcats Softball is a low cost recreational softball program which had been offered through Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Great Lakes Bay Region and the Sunrise Optimist Club since 1969. MGSL will be administering the program for the first time in 2018. We strive to maintain the essential elements of the Wildcats program that have contributed to nearly 50 successful seasons while aligning the program with MGSL's mission to promote local girls softball. We welcome input from recent Wildcats volunteers and players on how to improve the program.
About Wildcats Softball
Wildcats participants meet weekly for games over the course of an 8 week summer season, rules of play are catered to players of all skill levels. A cushioned ball is used for the safety of all, coaches pitch, and batting tees are incorporated as needed (there are no strikeouts). We hope that registrants attend each week, however teams will be modified as needed to facilitate games each night.
We recommend Wildcat Softball for youth who are 8 and under, older girls who are new to the sport and not interested in committing to a more comprehensive softball league, and children with developmental challenges.
