Alumni Field – Keene, NH

Vermont Ravens - 12

Monadnock Marauders – 18

Vermont jumped out to an early lead with quarterback #8 Clayton Torres hitting WR #7 Kenny Phillips II on a slant that he caught and headed to open space making his way down the field, breaking a couple tackles en route to the end zone and completing a 65-yard TD reception.  The extra point was unsuccessful, and the Ravens led 6-0 at the 13:00 mark 1st quarter.

The Marauders answered with a score of their own when quarterback #8 Gavin Searles found receiver #4 Josh Stagner in the end zone from 35 yards out.  Their two-point conversion attempt was no good so at 4:30 left in the first it was 6-6.

In the 2nd the Marauders scored twice.  The first at the 10:19 mark found Monadnock running back #24 Kolten Ravenna break three tackles on his way to the end zone from 14 yards out.  The two-point conversion was no good, 12-6 Marauders.  The second and last score for Monadnock on the night was at the 6:39 mark when after return man #27 Ethan Amidon returned a punt 60 yards, Searles took it the rest of the way with a 1-yard QB keeper off the right side.  A rushing attempt for 2 was stopped short, score 18-6, 6:39 second quarter.

The Ravens defense settled down during the second half and the offense moved the ball well enough for one more score.  At the 6:40 mark of the third quarter, Vermont running back #3 Akeem William took the handoff and ran to pay-dirt up the gut diving into the end zone for 6.  A forced two-point conversion attempt from Raven kicker #58 Juju Ayida was incomplete and the score was 18-12 Marauders and that score held up for Monadnock.

Vermont made a late run but were just short on a long 4th down scramble by Phillips giving up the ball on downs and Monadnock took a knee for the victory.

The Marauders even their record at 1-1 while the Ravens 0-3 head to South Burlington HS for a re-match against the undefeated 3-0 Southern VT Storm.  The game has been re-scheduled to be held at S. Burlington HS and not Norwich which was previously reported.  Saturday Aug. 11th.  Kick-off is 4PM.
