 Wickliffe Baseball League Meeting - 3/16/2017

Roll Call:

Executive Board – Pugh, Gilman, Novotney, Levon, Krizner, Pasquino

Excused – Motta

Trustees –Rossman

Excused – Brandt, Shirer

 

Also present:  Dave Stoehr

 

Levon made a motion to approve the meeting minutes of the 2/9 meeting.  Seconded by Krizner.  Motion passed.

 

Officer Reports:

VP – Gilman notified the board that we have received sponsorship for 15 teams, with 1 specifically for a tournament team.

Treasurer – Novotney announced the income/expense report for February2017, which is stated below. 

1)      Checking account balance - $15,990.88

2)      Savings account balance - $8,161.84

3)      Cooperstown 2017  - $4,348.52

4)      Other Savings / Clinics - $840.31

5)      Other - $310.58

 

She also stated that we made $9,237 dollars from the Game Show Night Fundraiser.  The Cooperstown 2017 team, which was scheduled to receive half of this decided to only take $3,775, with $462 going to the clinic account, and the balance of $5,000 going to the league.

 

Secretary – Levon stated that registration had closed with 102 boys in the league.  We have 30 Mitey Mites, 23 Minors, 36 Majors, and 13 Ponies.  We will have 3 Mitey Mite teams, 2 Minor teams, 3 Majors teams, and 1 Pony team. We will have the draft next week. 

 

Equipment Manager – Krizner stated that he will order the uniforms from Seasonal once the draft is complete, so that we can get them by opening day.  He requested that we order 9 equipment bags and 48 fence poles from BSN Sports.  We will ask for the girls league to pay for at least 1/3 of the fence poles.  The board approved of this request.  He will also look into getting catchers gear, batting helmets, and locks for the field boxes.  Pugh said he would get a quote from Seasonal in the near future.

Old Business

New Business: 

 

·         There is still a $300 outstanding balance from last year’s 10U tournament team that needs to be collected.

·         Pasquino asked the board if they would be willing to donate $500 to the AP/Honors Physics class to go to Cedar Point this year.  Pugh asked Novotney if she thought we could afford it, and she confirmed that we could.  The board unanimously approved a donation for this cause.

·         Gilman told the board that she has been approached by PSV Sports Photography about taking our opening day pictures.  We have already set up this year with our photographer, so she will tell them to contact us earlier next year, and we can price it out.

·         A short discussion was had about adding a free form comment section to the website registration to allow for people to make special requests.  Included on the registration, should be a disclaimer that says that the league cannot honor all requests, but will do our best to do what is best for the boys in the league.

·         The board decided to roll the extra “Other” account into our checking account as it is below the minimum dollar amount and will be hit with charges by the bank.
