ICBA Player Captures OBA Youth Player of the Year Honors

Brett Talbot of the Kitchener Peewee Tier 1 team captured the OBA Player of the Year award at the recent OBA Awards Banquet.  Brett who is a two time winner of the ICBA Player of the year award capped off a stellar season by being named Player of Year for Ontario Baseball.  Brett and his Kitchener team mates came within one game of capturing the Peewee Elimination tournament and going on to the Peewee Dairy Queen Nationals being held in Woodstock this past summer.  Brett was picked up by the eventual elimination winners the Mississauga Twins in their drive to a National Championship.  Brett and his team mates captured the 2019 Peewee Dairy Queen National Championship title with an undefeated run through the tournament.  They met the team from British Columbia in the final and once again Brett played his part during the game with a big hit to put Ontario in the lead they never relinquished.  Brett recorded the last out on a shot down the 3rd base line that he snagged to end the game.  Brett was also named the tournament MVP to cap it all off.  The ICBA congratulates Brett on his outstanding year and wish him more success as he continues along his baseball path.

Cambridge Umpire Captures OBA Youth Umpire of Year Award

Jim McIntrye of Cambridge Minor Baseball Association captured the Ontario Baseball Dick Willis award at their recent OBA Award gala.  Jim was also the winner of the ICBA Youth Umpire Level I II this past season.  Jim was considered the type of umpire all associations look for in calling games while mentoring others.  CMBA was fortunate to have an umpire that they could always count on even on short notice.  Jim was constantly leading by example and helping out the younger umpires in our system understanding the rules and decorum an umpire should show on the field.  The Inter County is very proud of Jim's accolades and wish him all the best going forward in his umpiring career.
