Riley Schweig commits to Elmhurst!

Congrats to Riley and family on committing to play softball at Elmhurst College ~ Fall 2015!

Here is a little more about Riley...

What's your favorite memory about being a catcher?

"I don't know if I have a favorite memory...it's just a special feeling to know that the pitcher and catcher have a sort of telepathy and that the team will always listen and trust my judgement behind the plate.  The numerous years have all blurred, leaving me with a positive experience..."

Why Elmhurst College?

"I choose Elmhurst for its academic in the first place, but softball is definitely a HUGE bonus!,..they have a fantastic pre-med program, they are affiliated with Loyola Hospital, I have the opportunity to be part of their honors programs and be able to still play softball, which is phenomenal.  Becoming a Bluejay will definitely be a great decision for my college career."

Who helped you get to the next level?

"Well, first off I want to thank my parents for getting up at the crack of dawn to sit next to a dusty field in the sweltering heat all day, summer after summer....I couldn't be more thankful to have them as my backbone.  My sister, Grandma Schweig...and of course my teammates have helped me by pushing me to get better...The Starzz...are the best team I have ever had and I love each and every one of them...last but certainly not least, thank you to Coach Joe...for helping me grow not only as a player, but as a person."
