2018 Playoff Picture

Entering the final week of the season we have three potential scenario for two teams to clinch first place  this year.

Scenario 1. D-Backs can clinch first with 2 wins vs The Rays.

Scenario 2. Royals can clinch first place with 2 wins vs The Indians plus 2 losses by The D-Backs.

Scenario 3. D-Backs can clinch with first with a loss by the Royals and a win vs The Rays.

Roster Moves

The D-Backs have placed Victor Pena on the 30 day disabled list (hernia Surgery) retroactive to May 5 he will be eligible to be activated June 5 the earliest.

Rays VS Indians

The Royals remain win less in the early season after dropping two close games to the Indians. But at first the Rays looked poised to win their first game of the season, as they jumped to an early 12-5 lead after a 7 run inning. But the Indians came right back with their own big inning scoring 4 runs of their own to close the gap 12-9.The Rays still had a chance to win as they entered the bottom of the 7th leading 12-11.But a lead off walk to Kenny gave the Indians the tying run. Then back to back hits tied the game for the Indians, an error loaded for the DH Joe who lined a 3-2 count pitch to left to drive in the winning run. The second game wasn’t much of a slug fest like the first one. Both team were locked in a pitcher’s duel the score was tied 1-1 entering the bottom of the 6th inning. But a routine play turned disastrous for the Rays. Rays pitchers dropped an infield fly rule that rolled to the back of home plate and as players from the Rays argued Indians base runners were alert and scored as the ball sat behind home and the Indians took a 3-1 lead to win the game

D-Backs VS Royals

The afternoon games gave us the undefeated D-Backs vs the Royals. The Royals jumped out to an early 2-0 on a double from Mamola. The Royals would build an early 5-0 lead on a Home Run from Runel and another double by Mamola. The D-Back would mount a small rally and score 4 runs but the pitching of Luis and those 5 early runs was all the Royals needed to snap the D-Backs winning streak. The second game the D-Backs looked like the offensive juggernaut that lead them to start 4-0 as they scored 10 first inning runs off Polanco in rout to a 15-2 mercy rule victory, behind the stellar pitching of Chiquito who only allowed 2 unearned runs over 5 innings.

The Rays and Royals will face off in the early morning match up looking to get into the win Colum. In the afternoon match up we have a battle of undefeated teams the Indians and D-Backs battling for first place

Who wants it more Cardinals vs Reds June 26,2016 at 12:00 pm

Championship Series

The Reds are four wins away from a perfect championship record the only thing standing in there way are the resurging Cardinals who eliminated  the White Sox in a stunning upset, but do the Cardinals have another upset up there sleeves, can they finally knock off the Reds in the big game...

Playoff Sweep Cards move on

The Cards will be moving on to face off with red hot Reds in the League Championship series after sweeping the White Sox 2-0 in the first round of the playoff. Despite there 0-6 record vs the white sox they came into the playoff confident they could win. They showed the white sox they were here to play as they jumped out to early leads in both game and never trailed. Cardinals displayed probably there best brand of softball in these two games with timely hitting and good defence to advance. If the last game of the season vs the Reds and these Playoff games are any indication of how good the Cardinals can play we should have an interested Championship Series between these two clubs...

The Perfect Season Continues

The perfect season continues for the Reds, as they easily beat the White Sox 21-4 to run there record to a perfect 10-0 on the season. The offense was firing on all cylinders as they quickly put 13 runs in the first two innings. That's all the offense  Polanco would need as he cruised trough four innings of work giving up 4 hits and 4 runs to improve his personal record to 9-0. He ran into some trouble in the 3rd inning when the White Sox went back to back on home runs from Acosta and Rodriguez but that  was the only trouble Polanco faced all game.

Only one game was played on Sunday do to the Cardinals forfeiting both there games giving the Reds 2 wins on Sunday and the White Sox 1.With a record of 10-0 and a 5 game lead over the second place White Sox the Reds have now lowered there magic number to (2) more wins would  clinch first place and a spot in the Championship game.

Next Week we will be playing our first All-Star Game

Week 3

The Reds continue to ride a hot wave as they improve to 6-0 on the season.Their two latest wins didn't come without some drama,as they has to sweat it out to win close games vs the White Sox 12-6 and the Cardinals 8-4

White Sox for the second week in a row have shown great life in their bats as they once again knocked off the Cardinals with a score of 20-2.Acosta lead the pitching with 4 innings of 1 hit ball.Bats seemed to stay alive and their second game vs the Reds as they jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. But the Red hot Reds came rite back to add 5 in the bottom half of the inning.White Sox would take a 6-5 late in the game on  two single and a bases loaded walk. But the White Sox couldn't hold on to the lead as the Reds went on to score 7 more runs in the last three innings for the win.

Cardinals didn't help them self out in their game vs the White Sox as they committed  6 errors in the game leading to big innings, and an eventual 20-2 loss. They came back and played a better defensive game as they held the Reds to just 3 runs late in to the game, but two costly errors in the late inning allowed the Reds to take the lead.Cardinals had a late chance to tie it as the tying run reached second on error by outfielder Nunez, but Erick couldn't punch in the run.The Reds would then go on to score 4 more runs to close out the victory and push their record to a perfect 6-0.....

Week 2

The 4-0 Reds continue there impressive start to the season winning both games on sunday. Early CY young candidate Polanco's  once again dominated allowing only 9 runs in 12 inning pitched between both games. He was able to keep the White Sox line up in check with 2 runs and 5 hits, as the Reds knocked out the Sox 13-2.The Reds have put the league on noticed on how potent their lineup is by hitting 7 HR in the day. Still missing one of their better hitters this team is only going to get even more scarier.

The White Sox once again split their two games. They came into game 1 vs Reds 2 games back of the Reds. They came with hopes of gaining some ground on them. By introducing their newest weapon a more fine tuned pitcher Starling.A game that started off looking like it was going to be close quickly got out of hand as the Reds used a 9 run inning, to easily cruise to a 13-2 victory as the white sox could only muster 2 runs on 5 hits vs Polanco. Game 2 for the Sox was a different story as the bats woke up vs the Cardinals. As they earned them self a knockout victory with a score of 17-1 and remain only 2 games back of the Reds. If the Sox can maintain that caliber of hitting the entire season they could be a hard team to beat.

Cardinals continue to struggle early on in the season as they have now dropped all 4 games so far. Sundays first game  would be a game they love to forget really quick as they were knocked out 17-1 vs the White Sox, but if they can play an entire game as they did vs the Reds they will win some game. They jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but big inning keep finding the Cardinals has they let up 8 run twice in this game.,They were able keep the game close with some good defense and great hitting, lead by team captain Chuch who hit for the leagues first Cycle going 4-4 on the day. But those two big innings by the Reds were to much for the Cardinals to over come

Opening Day

With opening day behind us the Reds are off to a strong start winning both games on Sunday. Polanco pitched  two greats game to come up with wins in his first two starts of the season. But the real big story is how good the Reds offence looked, led by Nunez who leads the league with a .818 batting average, nine hits and six rbi. As a team the Reds Are batting .514 and have out scored their opponents 32-14 to start the season 2-0.Will they keep this pace up when they face the White Sox in week 2 or will teams make the necessary adjustments to slow this offence down.

The White Sox finished the day 1-1 splitting their games between the Red and Cardinals. They looked in trouble early on vs the Cardinals as they fell behind 4-0 in just the first inning, but the White Sox kept it close by scoring 3 runs in the next 3 innings. Pitcher Yensi Acosta settled down only allowing 3 more runs over the next 6 innings to give his team a chance at the come back win as the White Sox went on to score 7 runs in the 6th inning for a 10-7 victory. Another come back seemed in order vs the Reds as they turned another good inning scoring 4 times to close the gap to 17-11,but they dug them self to deep of a hole to climb out of as they fell to the Reds 20-11...

The Cardinals stumbled losing both games Sunday. This team looks to surprise people this season with good defense from a strong left side lead by 3rd baseman Justin, ss Chuch and a very athletic outfield core. But can their pitching staff hold up they have shown flashes of being able to holding the Reds to just 5 runs in the first 3 innings to keep the score close 5-1.Walks have really hurt their chances of keeping games close, as walks have lead to big innings vs them were they have allowed 6+ runs inning twice already. If they sure up the pitching and some timely hitting they will have good chances at winning a lot of games...

Lets see what adjustments each teams makes for week 2 as all three teams were missing key players from their roster but as good as the Reds looked in  week 1 this could mean trouble for the rest of the league as well. Its a long season and anything can happen......
