I'm still looking for used gloves and bats

I don't want parents to have to buy a new glove just for a few Saturday's of baseball.  We'd love to take your used and broken in gloves for my Diamond Days Friends.  Righties and Lefties needed!

Diamond Days Baseball Organization

Diamond Days Baseball is for students with special needs.  Diamond Days Baseball is run by volunteers to share baseball with those students that may not have had the opportunity to participate in typical organized recreational sports.

No diamond is the same, each has unique characteristics in cut, color and clarity; just like each special needs child.

Where else would we celebrate that--than on a baseball diamond!

The future of DDBB

My name is Corey Atkins.  I’m a sophomore at Virginia Military Institute and I'm up to my neck in college, Cadet duties, playing rugby, and just life in general. Life is pretty hectic.  I will tell you that the one thing that I really look forward to every day is spending time with my team, it’s my very favorite part of the day.

BUT, there are people that would love to have my problems.  Did you know that there are students that have never played organized sports because they have an intellectual disability or a physical handicap?  I’d like to give those students the opportunity to be part of my team.  This year my brother and sister, Jack and Meredith Atkins, are going to join the DDBB leadership as well as close friend, Ryan Kutz.  Jack, Mere and Ryan are students at LDHS, they share my goals and I look forward to their participation.

At this time I’m just asking you to spread the word and send people to the website  If you know of a family with a special needs student, please tell them about the organization and my website.  My contact information is available on this site.  Also, if you know of someone that is willing to become a sponsor of my program, we are in need of gently used baseball gloves, bats and buckets of balls.  I am also searching for financial sponsors….because every kid should have a favorite baseball shirt that they’re proud to wear…to show off their team.

We can't wait to get out on the diamond and share the Love of the Game with friends that haven't had many opportunities to play baseball or softball before.  It's not just about the athletics, it's the camaraderie of all of us playing ball together and sharing the field; making new friends and enriching everyone's life.

Our clinics will include baseball fundamentals such as good sportsmanship, batting, fielding, base running and plenty of exercise.

We'll see our diamonds on the diamond soon!  We had our first 2016 day on the diamond on March 26!

Become a Sponsor

March 1, 2016

Please contact Corey Atkins if you'd like to become a sponsor of this worthwhile organization.  If you'd like to donate equipment, we currently need buckets of new or used baseballs and tennis balls, baseball gloves and bats (new or gently used).
